"Our family of three stayed here for..."
Our family of three stayed here for two nights in September 2007 and found this to be a lovely hotel! It certainly isn't budget accommodation but it was lovely to have some space and to have a really large bathroom to splash about in! All of us, including our daughter, had our own very comfortable bed, and daughter even enjoyed the onsen. The laundry was fantastic, and cheap, and after 10 days travelling, seemed to be where I spent quite a lot of my time! Not a lot to do around the hotel, but within easy reach of Kyoto's attractions, which are spread out anyway, by either subway or taxi, which we found compared very favourably cost-wise when there were three of us. Our only mistake was following some directions to get there (accessed ex the internet) which were incorrect!! Make sure you take the subway line to Gojo Station and leave by the exit to Gojodori - we were two stations further on and consequently very lost!! We would highly recommend this hotel.

We found this hotel excellent value, the staff were very helpful, able to organise tours easily, the restaurant had delicious meals. It was easy to find near a subway station, close enough to walk to Kyoto station and close to all the things we wanted to see

"The hotel is generally clean, but the..."
The hotel is generally clean, but the carpet in our room was beadly stained. The room was tiny; the double bed was jammed against the wall, and left only a small space on one side.
The dining room food was of excellent quality; the evening we dined there we were the only diners, and we asked for the loud intrusive pop music to be turned either down or off: our waitress told us that the music was popular, so she could not change it. Kyoto is a delight; start on the 9th floor of the railway station South Tower, where the international tourist office has very helpful friendly staff, and (free) guides, both students and retired people. For excellent Japanese food, go to the 11th floor, where you'll find a variety of restaurants. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the station, and from Gion. The hotel front desk staff are charming and helpful. Turn right out of the front door, cross the road at the crossing, and there's a 24-hour supermarket.

Close to the train station and metro, helpful service, it was clean and quiet, It is a good option when visiting Kyoto and you plan to visit cities around, but if you just want to
stay in Kyoto I would choose another hotel closer to city centre. Important in Kyoto: rent a bike to visit the city!
