My husband and I stayed in Narita...
My husband and I stayed in Narita Port Hotel for one night because we had an early flight back to SG and the resort we stayed in Kobuchizawa was quite far from the airport (2hrs express train ride to Shinjuku and another 85mins airport limousine bus ride to airport).
We arrived in Narita Airport Terminal 1 at around 2pm and we checked with the Information Counter attendant what time is the free shuttle bus to Narita Port Hotel coming. She told us that the next bus arrives at 2:50pm so we decided to have a quick lunch at the airport mall food court. We went to bus stop 16 where all the hotel shuttle services stop and we saw the bus to Hilton, Narita Port Hotel and another hotel. We hopped on the bus and its first stop was Hilton where most of the passengers got off. The next stop was Narita Port Hotel and it was actually better than what we expected. We were expecting a small business hotel without frills and what we saw was like a charming, European style hotel.
We checked into a room in the 7th floor, with a good view of the road that goes to the airport. From our window, we can see the Hilton hotel and the forest just beside the road. The room is a bit small compared to the previous serviced apartment/resort cottage we stayed in Japan, but of course we cannot compare them side by side. There is a double bed, a closet, a TV, a small table and chair, a desk and chair, a small refrigerator, an air pot, 2 cups and some green tea bags. The restroom is quite ok, with a bathtub and my husband's favorite water sprayer in the toilet. The usual toiletries are there.
There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the Aeon mall, but it was jam-packed. It stopped in another hotel but it cannot accommodate more passengers. We were asked to get off at that hotel and the bus driver told us that we can take a taxi to the mall, to be paid by the hotel so we agreed. We saw that the taxi ride from that hotel to the Aeon mall was 1050 yen, which is really expensive but at least we didn't have to pay for it. The mall is really big, but there are not so many interesting shops compared to Shinjuku. We just had our dinner at Pepper Lunch then took the shuttle bus again to the hotel. The bus was still crowded.
The next day we checked out and took the free shuttle bus again to the airport. It first stopped at Terminal 2 then Terminal 1.
Overall, we think that Narita Port Hotel is a good place to stay if you have an early flight the next day. It is comfortable and quite convenient.
