It's a great place to stay in with an excellent view of the city as we were on the 35th floor. Easy access to shopping, eating and the Ikebukuro station. It's price is really value for money.
The staff were professional and the rooms were clean. As it was situated in a shopping centre, shops and convenience stores were very accessible. The room decor is quite old-fashioned but the facilities were alright. Just be mindful to have cash on hand because when payment is being made using Master Card or credit card, there may be a "system" failure or failure to get through to Master Card. Call your credit card company first to ensure your card is OK to be used to avoid the counter staff from declaring that your card is faulty.
the room is abit small.. but the location is good. shopping malls is just right below.. seiyu 24hrs supermarket and family mart is just 2mins walk.
walk to jr line is abt 10mins walk. u can choose to walk at street level or underground towards
direction of sunshine 60. walk at street level will bring u to tokyu hands and hundred of small shops, cinema and small eateries. underground walk at the station will lead to seibu, tobu, parco,
labi. place is abt 15mins to 20mins train ride away fron shinjuku, shinbuya, harajuku.
There are 2 reasons why anyone would stay at this hotel. Firstly for its price and the fact that the airport limousine stops right at its doorstep. However, the whole place really feels cheap - from its CRT TVs in its very dated rooms to its clientele. The hotel was lobby was cramped with loud visitors and it took forever to get served at the reception or at the bell captain's desk. The staff were the most grumpy ones I have seen in Japan. Avoid if possible.
The walking time and distance from the JR Ikebukuro station is around 15 mins. It's a nice area to stay. There are lots of shopping, entertainment and affordable eateries around the area.
Staff have been helpful and polite. Overall a good experience.

Excellent hotel location in Ikebukuro! A convenient store in the lobby was very useful. The airport Limousine Bus service transports directly to Sunshine City Hotel for $30US - this is easier than taking Narita Express to Ikebukuro with luggage.
The single room is very small (narrow), but is fine if planning to tour in the daytime.
Shopping and many restaurants are located in indoor plaza at rear lobby exit - no need for umbrella!
I took Japan Gray Line bus tour, which picked me up at Sunshine City.
Good location, excellent service from English-speaking staff....
Good location, excellent service from English-speaking staff. However, room and bathroom were really small and we had difficulty moving around after all the luggage took up the space in the triple room. Overall, it was a great stay due to the location and the mini mart at the hotel lobby provided great convenience for the necessities.
