Pumalin Guest house
Had a great weekend in Pumalin. The accommodation is very well presented for a quest house more like a 3* hotel in terms of the room presentation. Just back from the River and close to the restaurants/town.
It doesn't have the facilities of a hotel, but that's why it's called a guest house. We would recommend this to others.
All smiles at Villa Pumalin
This was my first trip to Laos - and turned out to be a very relaxing escape from Singapore work. The Villa Pumalin is located 50 m from the Mekong river. Lots of dining possibilities along the river - though I did not dine there. Rather, There is a sort of open-air food court close to the night market - buffet for US1.50 -
The Villa Pumalin staff were quite friendly , helpful and suggested places to go. For me, this was a photo escape, so I wanted to visit places with interesting photo opportunities. I took a slow boat to the cave with temples - and along the way stopped at a village of weavers and paper makers. Quite interesting to watch spinning, weaving and paper making. All Lao people I met were quite friendly. I also visited Kuangsi Falls and lots of interesting flowers as well as the falls.
The location of the guesthouse in the center of Luang-Prabang near the Mekong River is excellent. The street is very quiet.
People at the front desk were very heplfully. Always disponible and really kindly.

Great Guest House and fantastic staff
Had a great stay and the staff could not have been better. Came away feeling as though we had made new friends. Standard of rooms very high.
55$is a little too much expensive for this type of guest house in Luang Prabang
Lovely place, could be great
It's strange how, in a country where fresh fruit is piled high on every pavement, the hotel breakfast features nasty artificial tasting carton juice. In fact, the attempt at breakfast was best forgotten.
Lovely helpful staff, very friendly. The room was nice and big. It could have been great if the mattress on the bed were a tad softer (I could have slept on the wooden floor) and some building defects corrected, such as the overflow from the shower draining first into the separate toilet enclosure, and then onto the bathroom floor.
Like a lot of accommodation in Laos, it would have been decent value if it were 30% cheaper.

Excellent Stay
Pumalin Guesthouse was by far and away the best place we stayed during our travels in South East Asia. Excellent Location, very clean and beautiful rooms and very friendly staff. All in all, a very enjoyable stay...

We stayed at the Pumalin Villa for 4 days.
The reception people and the owner are very friendly and warm hosts.
Perfect location: The villa is just off the Mekong River and few minutes of the strip.
It is quiet in the evening and still close to restaurants, bars and massage parlors.
We enjoyed staying there and look forward to the next trip.

This hotel is fairly new and so everything clean and tidy. Staff are friendly but a bit shy. Ask them anything and they will provide. 30 sec. walking distance to the Mekong River on a quiet lane. 5 - 10 min. walk to the main drag. They provide bath room toiletries but no hand towels. Might want to bring your own. Would recommend as a quiet, clean place to saty but close to everything.
