badly managed hotel
for the price i paid i felt ripped off, the room was very tired, twin beds pushed together came apart during the night, linen was dirty, towels had stains, shower curtain had black mould, the water stank like a sewer, the floor needed a good mop, gabage bins were filthy.
Although the staff seemed to smile and say hello the care factor was just not there. i was at the front desk asking for travel information, 2 male staff were assisting me until a young girl wearing very short denim jeans came to the reception desk, the 2 staff assisting me just left me and went to her talking in the local language and laughing, i just could not believe what had happened and i walked away. This I beleive is a reflection on the management of this hotel

Vientiane break
The Mercure is probably at the top end as regards price for hotels in Vientiane, but having said that, it is still far less than I pay for an acceptable hotel in Australia. For the money, what you get is a hotel that is perfect in every way. The staff are friendly, helpful and happy to be there, the hotel itself is clean, elegant, and scrupulously maintained. There is a lovely pool, and coffee/relaxing area. The rooms are large, clean and well furnished, and as an aside, one of the most comfortable beds I have found in Asia, with a clean, excellent bathroom. The breakfast is amazing, the usual Asian free cooked breakfast, but taken to the highest level. All facets of this hotel are perfect, and the staff work to keep it at that level. I cannot think of any criticism of this hotel, except one small point: it is not right on the river, rather a two or three minute tuktuk ride each time you want to go down to the busier river and market areas. Tuktuks are, of course, available at the front of the hotel. All in all, this hotel deserves the very best review I could give it.

The Novotel in Vientiane is a solid choice for a place to stay. The rooms are clean and the staff is very nice. Don't bother using the Internet here unless you have to. It is expensive. The dining area serves a good breakfast, and their a some good choices for room service as well. One cannot go wrong staying here.

Last time, I book with AsiaRooms, the Magestic hotel in Saigon, I was very happy. This time the hotel I wasn't. This hotel is very noisy, they have a night club behind the swmming pool, it's mean the guest can not sleep before 2H. The quality of the room and bed are very bad. The service no good. This time very disapointed

Great breakfast and nice enough hotel (good pool), very clean, but it's a little far from the centre of things. Even though it's only a kilometre from the centre of town, the staff could have been more obliging with the free shuttle--and the location means you have to hassle with the tuk-tuk or jumbo drivers over your fare when returning. All that aside, it's clean and classy in a slightly minimalist way.

The room was very nice and they had very good Facilities. But the bottom line is that they were very expensive. They tried to charge me 1600 baht for a taxi to the border at friendship bridge.
