up to date and back in time
the country is changing. and so is obviously also the facility. free wifi and pc-use, new or new looking tv, ac. all that is up to todays standard. look and feeling of interior ( entrance hall,(some rooms) are clearly from the past. ( not used, just style.) and just are asked to order your breakfast already the evening before( served on ´open space´ in the entrance hall..) . so it´s some kind and part of lao-feeling 2011.. 15 min walk to town center. 5 min to central busstation. please note, that the ´famous´ morning market next door will soon be a singapore- financed shopping center....

Lovely Hotel
The Lane Xang princess Hotel was clean, modern and very comfortable, and very quiet, in a very central location and right opposite a big market, and just across the road from a superb small French restaurant, where the food is to die for.

position and room ok, skip the breakfast
The rooms are clean and quiet in this refurbished old hotel next to the morning market. The breakfast is terrible, and is not worth the half hour wait. Skip breakfast here, as there are other venues nearby.

great hotel, dnt let the outside out you off!
Great hotel, approx 10min walk to main part of town but this is very easy and you can always get a tuk tuk or taxi if you dnt want to walk. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are lovely. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was nice with a good choice

Nice place to stay as long as you don't mind cold showers
The hotel rooms are furnished to a very high standard with a unique style as are the common areas. The wi-fi is a little slow as they only use domestic quality routers, but it's fine for checking your mail.
The staff are excellent. Very friendly and helpful in common with Lao people in general.
The hotel is located in the commercial district near the bank offices. It's also very close to the local bus station, which has the #14 bus that goes to/from the Thai border crossing (Friedship Bridge) and the Buddha Park which is well worth a visit. To get to the centre is about a 15 minute walk crossing some very busy roads, or a quick tuktuk ride. Beware the tuktuk drivers try to impose a minimum charge of 40000kip to get to/from the hotel and are hard to budge.
So all pretty good then? Well yes, except the shower was very erratic (maybe just mine). Sometimes it would alternate hot/cold, other times just stay cold.

Located near the Morning market, this is...
Located near the Morning market, this is a very friendly clean good value for money option hotel. Not to be confused with the Lane Xiang hotel however. Although the staff may not speak much English, they were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was always a bit of an adventure in the lobby and the kitsch glass flower lighting added a special touch. We had a very nice time at the hotel. Ask the staff to write down the hotel name or get an address card from the hotel so you can show tuk tuk drivers where you are located.

My wife and I stayed for two...
My wife and I stayed for two nights, the stay was very good, just a few minor things. Only a few of the staff understood any English, fortunately for me, I had my Thai wife with me who could translate. The staff that were on at various times were either new or just didn't know about the in's and out's of the hotel. For example, I bought a can of coke at the hotel, the person serving me had to go and find out how much it cost because they didn't know the price, I asked someone else later on if the internet was free, again they didn't know and had to go and find out. Although The breakfast was good they didn't stick to the set menu, for example, I chose the American Breakfast on both days, the first day there was no toast with butter and jam, the second day the toast was there but only one egg instead of two. The first day the brewed coffee and fruit platter were very nice but the second day it was a couple of oranges and they had to go and get the coffee from across the street. Other than that, we had a very pleasant stay.
