The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of most things - Mekong river, president's palace, shopping, dining, the main wats and monuments etc. The room itself was spacious, with a nice comfortable bed and good quality, attractive decor.
Apple computers were available to use free in the restaurant area which was very useful to us, and staff were always pleasant. For breakfast, although a range of Asian and European foods were offered, the European food, with exception of the whole-grain bread, lacked taste somehow.
The Lao meal of ground duck,(called boneless duck on the menu) we had for an evening meal in the restaurant I would recommend, though my daughter said her bacon sandwich was tasteless.
There are also plenty of places to eat within walking distance from the hotel, including street food.
The inhouse spa seemed expensive and so did not use it.
Perhaps because of the rain, the electricity went off at 4am. When I finally called reception at 7:30am, they told me to remove the key-card and then replace it in the card slot which re-activated the electricty. It happened again the next day too, but was able to re-activate the electricity straight away that time using the key-card.
As we stayed in the rainy season we got a good deal and enjoyed staying at Salana Boutique H.
