We liked the location - just a...
We liked the location - just a few minutes' walk from the usual tourist attractions (Senado, Ruins of St Paul, etc), restaurants (including 2 McDonalds), bakeries, casinos and bus stops (one can get around Macau and to Taipa/Coloane v. easily and cheaply by bus).
We didn't have any problems with smoke or hard beds, and we could control the room airconditioning. The room was cleaned and towels replaced every day.
If you want to visit the Venetian Casino Hotel Resort, just take the hotel shuttle to the ferry terminal and then hop onto any of the Venetian buses waiting there. To go to the airport, you can get the MT2 bus from the Macau Square (just 2 mins walk from hotel). Note: The MT2 service (MOP3.30) is fast - makes only a few stops unlike the AP1 bus but unfortunately it's only available during specific hours like 7:30 to 9am and 4:30 to 7pm. (Or you can take the bus #33 or #11 to Best Western hotel in Taipa and then get a taxi or the AP1 bus to the airport.)

For a guest who do not mind the service, I find that there is lack of locker & bar drinks in the room. Also, the room smells of hay & smoke!

There are not many choices for Hotel...
There are not many choices for Hotel at this price in Macau if compares to Hong Kong. It is equally fair hotel for budget travellers. The room is spacious if you compare to Hong Kong, but clealiness wise is not very encouraging as the hotel is aging and everything is old. The location is good, it situated very near to Senado square where the most happening area in Macau. Glad to have book this hotel anyway.

my 1st time to Macau so can't compare with other hotels but overall the location is great with many places/shopping available easily. the hotel has a plus point in that the bus stops are all within walking distance as well as eating place. the dim-sum at the hotel is good too.

Metropole location is great, just 1-2 buildings from San Ma Lo (Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro) junction. Provide free shuttle mini-bus service from/to ferry terminal (but not airport though) every 30mins - look out for white van with 3-4 hotel names (Ritz, Emperor, Metropole, etc)or "MH" logo displayed on it. No casino, it's good. Can keep luggages after check-out. Overall, it's good stay for budget-minded travellers for clean room, good, peaceful night sleep. Small little things as others had feedbacked - hard bed and no additional toilet roll.
I booked for a double room, was given twin room and was told only 1 double room per floor!, but immediate service (helped) to join the 2 single beds - though unsuccessful as lamps wiring in-between them. Overall, happy with it.

To put it simply, apart from the rather central location, there is nothing really good abt this hotel! It is a very small and old hotel with limited facilities. We were quite shocked when we saw the hotel room. It had a damp, musky smell and looked eerie on first sight. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. Go for it if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep. Else, if you're looking for reasonable comfort and relaxation after a good day of walking, forget it.

Good value, good location. English speaking staff too. Has wireless internet access. Good size room and clean as well. My only problem was the bed was rock hard so it was not a comfortable sleep.

The location is good and within easy walking distance to the centre of Macau. The room was clean and of adequate size. The staff were extremely helpful.
I regretted signing up for breakfast as it was poor and catered for Asian tastes only. I love Asian food and have lived and travelled in Asia for 30 years. I had expected there would be a Western style breakfast and think you should inform future guests that this is not the case.
