Room was large and clean but old furniture and fittings. After seeing the hotel entrance and lobby I was expecting a rather luxurious hotel but the rest didn't match.
The hotel did not even have a bar!
Cafe was old with an unappetising menu.
Breakfast was really poor- low quality and lukewarm at best. Didn't even have an egg station, which is usually the saviour of any poor buffet breakfast. Options were instead layers of cold fried eggs stacked on top of each other or nasty scrambled eggs.
The hotel spa/sauna however is very good, and I think that is the area that is most well known and highly regarded of all the hotel features. Although it is rather expensive and, in keeping with most spas in Macau, not aimed at the female of the species!
I should say that my stay was far from disaterous- I was comfortable enough but overall I would say the hotel is well overpriced. Have stayed at Royal Hotel before for cheaper than I paid for this place, and would receommend that over Rio every time.
Hotel casino is very small. Those who want to play games need taxi to go to other casino.
A Friendly Place to stay
Hotel's staff are great for information regarding places of interest and mode of transportation in getting there. They always have a smile as and when you pop in and out of the hotel.
Quite good except no free internet
Room is good size and well furnished. Location is quite convenient. The hotel should consider providing free internet.

my only disappointment was that I asked for a non-smoking room but this could not be accommodated.

when i was checking in, the front desk officer told me that she'll be giving us an upgrade!!!! yehey!!! the room was great, spacious and clean. big bathroom and clean too! seems like the hotel was well kept. the corridors were clean. the buffet could use some improvement though... more options probably. the casino was a disappointment though. very few slot machines and to top it off some were not working. they have a shuttle to and from the ferry terminal which is a plus. overall, the experience was good!
I would never stay at this hotel...
I would never stay at this hotel again, it smelled of bad air freshner, the staff wasn't helpful. And they gave he smoking rooms even though we didn't recommend this. The spa I a for men only, so this hotel isn't recommended for couples or familes. In general not a nice atmosphere or experience. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone.
