The hotel could not find my reservation - so we had a long wait to locate - which they could not - but did give us a room anyhow - and at a different rate - higher of course. The room was supposed to be non smoking but smelt of cigarette smoke. My friends were given a higher floor (we were on the 7th flr and they were on the 10th)- with a much better furnished room - flat screen tv, etc.

Impressive on the outside but mediocre in the inside
Room is generally clean but amenities are lacking and general maintenance poor. Certainly not of 4 star standard. OK for 3 star rating.

5 STAR Stay!
Check in Cititel for 4d3n. Had a very pleasant stay through-out. Room is clean with unblock seaview. Near to most of the hot spots. Taxi is easily available. Public transport ( Rapid Penang ) Bus stop is just beside the hotel. Walking distance to Komta Rapid bus interchange.

I think it is ranked a 4 star hotel but going on my room and the corridors on Level 7 I would rank it 3 star, the hallway was very drab and worn out carpet. The bathroom was small and could do with an update.

Good Value
The Cititel Hotel Penang was very good value for money. The location was excellent for sightseeing , food outlets and shopping and the staff were very helpful and friendly. As a bonus you could pick up a trishaw right outside the front door. All in all a good choice for the price.

Nice Hotel
The Cititel Hotel is a very good hotel, one of the cleanliness one around Malaysia. The location is very good, a 15 mins walk and you'll be at Komtar, where the bus station is located. You can go anywhere from here. Just opposite the hotel, is the Red Garden Food Centre, these is where you are able to dine in comfort with more then 10 stores here selling different kind of food, from Japanese, Western and of course the local delight. It's also value for money here.

there was a mixup with the room numbers when we checked in. we were given a room which was already occupied, this was infact due to a typo. also, there was a 400Rm deposit needed upon checkin. as it was not highlighted on the booking,we were unaware of this and it set us back on our spending ability during the trip.

There's no towel for us when we check in and they took quite
a while to deliver to us. We book for one day tour with the hotel,
the itinerary show the total hrs should be 7hrs but the tour guide
insist only 6hrs and some of the places we also did not visit.

Receptionist was great check in with a breeze.. room service did a fantastic job to offer meal that is not on the menu list for my 1 year old daughter..
