While we enjoyed our stay at the Evergreen, we probably would choose another hotel next time based simply on location.
The Evergreen itself is a very good hotel, well maintained and with good facilities. Staff are very accommodating and the food quality and value is excellent.
Pool area is good, rooms are clean and well maintained, although they are starting to show some wear and tear. Cleanliness, however, was excellent.
We originally chose to stay there because it is out of the main Georgetown area (we like to stay near Georgetown but not in it) but not up on the beaches tourist strip. However what we found is that the hotel is well removed from everything - and there are other hotels in the Gurney Drive area that are located much closer to the hawker food centre and the Gurney Plaza (the new G Hotel, for example).
Whilst we wouldn't level any criticisms at all at the Evergreen, we think that there are better located hotels in the Gurney Drive area.
