Stayed in ground floor romm which was...
Stayed in ground floor romm which was furnished in very basic traditional style with original stone floor[no rugs]. We found noise a problem from the rooms around us. We had mini fridge, tea/coffee and hard mattress on the bed. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cooked to order. Public rooms were furnished with antiques and were stunning. Location was good - walking distance for most sights.

Very charming,fascinating, historic building - formerly the...
Very charming,fascinating, historic building - formerly the mansion of a very rich Chinese businessman who had it designed to be richly decorated and perfectly in tune with feng shui. Perfect place to feel part of the heritage of Penang. The owner and staff were very helpful. Also, there are three delightful cats in residence in the hotel. Overall, a great experience. Best place to stay in Georgetown to soak up the ambience. A few minor suggestions for improvement - 1. Install a fridge in the rooms so one can keep cold drinks there 2. Install cable internet. There is free wireless in the public areas, but the walls are too thick for the signal to get through in the rooms

We booked CFT mansion mainly for the...
We booked CFT mansion mainly for the historical experience and is worth it to my opinion since our rate is discounted from rack. If you are looking for value and western convenience. CFT will be disappointing since there are many choices for $50 usd or lower in town. Service is good. Breakfast is so-so. Courtyard is a great place for deep though or a noon nap-especially if it rain. Enjoy the place!

Booked for five days but left after...
Booked for five days but left after two,breakfast ok,the Red Garden hawker stalls next door exellent, but the staff and some guests smoke in the place, i thought that practice had ceased years ago, no warnings about this !!!, also there are cats in the hotel, ok if you like cats but not if you have an allergy like myself,. again no info on this.Georgetown in Penang is not a nice place, its run down and to put it mildly smelly.

We had a delightful stay at this...
We had a delightful stay at this stylish, serene guesthouse, which was full of character and charm. The staff were courteous, attentive and helpful without being pushy or overbearing. Their local knowledge was helpful in planning places to visit, shop and eat. We were so impressed by Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion that we cancelled another accommodation booking and extended our stay.The attention to detail in the restoration and decoration of this beautiful mansion make it a unique and memorable place. We only wish we had been able to stay longer! The guided tour that was available was also informative and entertaining, giving some insight into the remarkable vision of it's original and current owners.
