We got a free upgrade to a suite, so I don't know how much this review should count. The suite is very big, and with an excellent view of the yacht docking bay. So, for the money we paid, it is very good value. However, if we had paid for an executive suite, and in a hotel that claims to be five star, I would be disappointed. The finishing details are poor, such as wall plastering and carpentry work, and the TVs are not the trendy LCD types, and no DVD player provided, let alone home theatre type sound system. The five-star features that the hotel relies on is probably the swimming pools and access to the sea. Its location is also good, if one wants to stay near the city but away from it, and prefers to go to the forests rather than the beaches. Of course, one can and should stay in the forest or mountain areas while touring those areas, but on the way in and out of Kota Kinabalu, the location of this hotel is good. But be warned that taxi prices are higher than metered taxis, so residents should either use the free shuttle bus to go to the city, or be prepared to pay above meter rate.
