Generally the hotel was lovely and we had a very relaxing hoilday. The staff were universally very friendly and polite although occasionally we had difficulty ensuring they really understood our request. For example, the safe in our room was not working, and despite a number of phone calls and someone coming to look at it we were unable to get it fixed or get an explanation over the course of 4 days. The food, in particular the breakfast buffets were excellent and in general quite reasonable value but we felt the drinks (even the non alcoholic ones) were very expensive when compared with hotels of similar standard in Kota Kinabalu (eg Le Meridien - drinks almost half your price) and elsewhere. The laundry service was incredibly expensive and cost more than a professional dry cleaning service here at home in Australia.
The room itself was lovely and comfortable and more than met our expectations. We had left luggage at the Pacific Sutera and it was located very quickly and efficiently upon our arrival at the Magellan and delivered to our room without delay which was terrific. The poolside staff in particular were excellent, always coming around with some little treat which really added to the relaxing indulgent feel of a holiday. Thankyou very much.
Very large facility which can get quite busy with holidaying families - especially around pool areas. Walking distance from pool/restaurant to room can be more than 0.5 km - not suitable for elderly or disabled customers.
Service impeccable until faced with non standard problems - roomsafe was not working and could not be repaired/replaced during 5 day stay which caused considerable hassle with valuables.
Staff very friendly on all occasions.
Great variety and quality of restaurants and recreational facilities (including tour offers to islands and other sights), entire hotel is spotless and perfectly maintained (including pools). Very small and littered beach. Prices for drinks take advantage of isolated location from town.
Rooms spacious, quiet and tasteful with lovely views. Excellent breakfast buffet.
I was satisfied with your not only facilitres but
also staffs service. It was the best place where took a rest and that was so clean and nice atmosphere. It was so impressed hotel to me.
We have travelled quite allot around the world , North America , Caribbean , numerous places in Thailand , Malaysia , Sri Lanka , India and Indonesia - honestly this hotel rates in the top two we have stayed in ....
Service , people , location and overall quality of this hotel makes it an excellent place to spend a couple of weeks ...
This hotel was fantastic. Beautiful foyer, lovely pool. They upgraded us to a Club room which was the largest hotel room we had ever seen and furnished beautifully. So much to do with having access to the Country Club and the Pacific. Great that it was so near to the harbour to get the boats out to the islands. Staff were really friendly. Shame the beach was so small but you could walk over to the Pacific where it was a little bit bigger. Great free shuttle bus into KK every hour. Couldn't fault the hotel in anyway.
I still cannot get over how incredibly friendly all the staff was! It definitely made my stay wonderfully pleasant and enjoyable, they were so helpful and always had a smile. The hotel grounds itself was so extensive and beautiful, we did not have enough time to explore it all! The location of the hotel is perfect, with just a short shuttle bus ride into town (which was free of charge). The buffet breakfast was also amazing and full of choice! I definitely would recommend this hotel to a traveler to Kota Kinabalu, it undoubtedly made my trip so wonderful and memorable!
Overall this was a lovely hotel with an excellent wandering instrumental trio who seemed able to sing any request you threw at them and to a tee, excellent for honeymooners!, and the Lobby Bar also had a good music band.
I would say the thing that struck us most was the friendliness of the staff and going that little extra mile to help, eg finding me a wheelchair/t.sport to the clinic when i sprained an ankle and enquiry ea. day about my recovery. With clinic staff i wouldnt like to have had more than an ankle injury, eg i took over the bandaging from nurse (teenager Red Cross course!).
It's a great value to stay in Pacific Sutera. The hotel has a great no. of facilities you expect from a resort hotel. As a hotel guest, you can gain access to the Marina and their sister hotel, Magellan Sutera with ease. With just a call, they will provide the internal shuttle 'immediately'. The hourly shuttle to the downtown is another plus. I don't think Shangri-La Hotel provides this service at this standard. You can also arrange island tours within the doorstep. For a hotel with this standard and at this affordable price, the Pacific Sutera is the best choice you can find in KK. The Sutera also has sister lodges in Mountain Kinabalu and Poring Hot Spring. I also stay in both places, each for one night. The lodges are also tremendous.
Good services overall, staff are friendly and very helpful! I very much enjoy the food served at the restaurant which give people the chance to try food from different culture background. Although the outdooor facilities like swimming pool is excellent , we didn't have much time to enjoy it this time. Free Shuttle bus service is a good idea but can add exta route particular to Airport for conveniency which is extra bonus.
I very much like the hotel day trip planning at the counter so people can join in and visit places they love to see. Another extra bonus!!!!!!
We will definitely come back again.
