Just about 5 minutes away from the city center, standard fare for taxi is RM10.

Big room at a good price. Therefore I accept to walk 10-15 minutes to get to the centre of town. The only hotel in Sabah where I did not smell smoke in the non-smoking floor. Close to airport, OK breakfast both western and asian taste. Stayed only one night.
The Beverly was great value for money....
The Beverly was great value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms clean and comfortable. The location meant that we couldn't walk to the centre of the city, but there were shuttle buses twice daily, and the taxi fare was fairly cheap. My only suggestion for the hotel to improve on would be to add some umbrellas around the pool for shade. Otherwise, we had a great stay.

I concur entirely with past positive reviews about this hotel which offers the best value for the price charged. In fact the location isn't that far nor inconvenient as first expected although the locals seem seldom walk on the roads that it looks queer for foreigners using the pavements towards Centre Point! We've only spent less than 10 minutes to arrive there.
Taxis with standard charge of RM10 in the city are handy and friendly. Buffet breadfast is good if not that excellent compared to those 5-star hotels I've been staying before. I really don't see much undeserved to choose Beverly after all.

Overall Hotel is clean and brekfast is very good, as previous reviews state. The pool was not large, but kept clean and basically no one used it, so you had it all to yourself! The down side would be the Hotel's location. It is a 10 min walk to the start of the "touristy" area BUT you have to cross 2 very busy freeways with overpass. The trafic lights dont help with the crossing. Good stay if you don't mind doging cars and trucks to get to city centre
Excellent for those of us who were...
Excellent for those of us who were looking to tour around the area and not spend daylight hours at the hotel. Excellent sleeping facilities but hot water was limited in one room. Good service and small range of western and eastern foods at on site restaurant; but easy to get to restaurants. Good gym and swimming pool. Definitely value for money if you don't need a beach resort as much cheaper than central down town hotels.
The worse thing about the Beverley Hotel...
The worse thing about the Beverley Hotel is the location. It is a 10 to 15 minute walk into the city centre and you have to cross 2 major roads to get there. Accordingly, it may not suit families with young children, the old or the infirm. Having said that, it only costs a few dollars by taxi and the hotel has a shuttle bus which operates at 10.30am and 2.30pm. Also the view from the rear of the hotel (swimming pool side) is far from scenic as you look out over a smelly river towards a shanty town and construction site. The actual hotel is reasonably priced with good facilities. It has a well equiped gym, swimming pool and business centre. The meals are well cooked with a wide choice of foods including western and asian. We spent 3 nights at the hotel in April 2009 and enjoyed our brief stay.

Nice Hotel about 10 minutes walk to centre of Kota Kinabalu. The only negative comment I have is noise, televisions and voices from adjoining rooms can be easily heard.
We have stayed from 6 - 10...
We have stayed from 6 - 10 Mar'09. Everything is good and fast - travelling from/to airport, check-in, wonderful breakfast, lovely swimming pool, clean and spacious room, helpful staff...etc There is a gym but we never use it but we borrow towel from them for pool and our island tour use. Walking to the shopping area takes about 10-15 mins (from the main road, turn left and cross traffic light to the diagonnaly opposite side). We also found a small night market selling local food such as fried chiken wings, satay and local drinks behind the hotel across the river - turn right at the main road and follow the path about 5 mins. Getting a taxi is also a breeze - they have taxi standby 24 hrs - just approach the bell boy. Overall, we have enjoyed our stay and its Value for money!

Very friendly & courteous staff. Great breakfast buffet. Some update maintenance would be advantageous. An easy 15 minute walk or 10 ringgit taxi ride to town.
