Not the biggest room you'll ever stay in, but very clean and with everything you'd need, including a very good shower. Could do with a wardrobe or similar for storage, but not essential. Helpful staff.

Overall is good. The location is excellent. There's a lot of restaurant surround the hotel. And the sunday market just outside the hotel. But the keycard is a bit broken and the sense is not very good.

Simple, comfortable and fuss-free
The lobby that greets u just makes u feel relaxed as it is clean, beautiful and air-conditioned. They have a menu of rooms with diff bird species. V. interesting! We booked a triple sharing room and the room was big enough for the 3 of us. The toilet was spacious for us. There is no wardrobe but there's a big hook to hang ur clothes. Hangars are provided. No noise traffic heard from outside. Everytime we leave the room for the day, we had to have the keycard re-scan at the reception before we go back to the room as they reset the card for security purposes. We reserved the room by credit card via asiarooms and no pymt was taken. Upon checking in, I was given the option to pay partial now and balance upon checking out or settle full amount upfront, either by cash/card. It was easily settled. The hotel was also able to hold our bags after checking out before we departed for the airport later in the day. Location wise, the hotel is very strategically located on Jalan Gaya where the Sunday morning market is right on your doorstep. At night, the front door is securely locked and monitored by the reception at the lobby. Left and right of the hotel is a Malay restaurant and kopitiam if you want to try local delicacies. A pharmacy is available right across the street. Almost all major banks are located within the vicinity. It is only a about a breezy 10mins walk to the Jesselton Jetty and 5mins to the Waterfront. Down the road from the hotel on Jalan Gaya u can find a beautiful setup of eateries Sugarbun Cafe, BB Cafe and Rainforest Cafe. At night, there's a live band performing for some good fun. Definitely enjoyed the stay at Sarangnova and recommend it to travellers who likes a simple and fuss-free hotel stay.

The room was small and attractive with the Borneo bird theme. The shelf in the bathroom was miniscule. You had to sit on the bed and use the shelf under the TV to get ready as that's where the outlets were but no mirror to use. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was friendly and helped us reserve taxis. The best part? We could leave luggage for two weeks at no cost!

Very nice little boutique hotel. The name...
Very nice little boutique hotel. The name 'Sarangnova' apparently means 'Bird's Nest' and each room is themed on a different bird of Sabah. The rooms are very clean and everything is new. Beds are big and comfy, cushy blankets too. I have to admit the room was not big but it is just fine for a couple. Bathroom was also good, with a big shower. It's in a great location on Jalan Gaya. Walking distance to everything. Lots of great restaurants nearby. The hotel does not provide breakfast, but right downstairs you can find lots of cheap eats. I think they have WiFi in the lobby as I often saw people checking their emails on their laptops there. Not sure about WiFi in the rooms, though. There are also internet cafes on Jalan Gaya so no problem to get online. I would recommend this place to people who are on a budget but don't want to stay in a really grungy hostel. Sarangnova is so much nicer than a lot of the hostels nearby and really not expensive.

We stayed for two night from the day we arrived KK.It locates in the historical area which lots food shop and banks. The room is small without any comfortable feeling but bathroom is big enough compared with the room.We also found the upper window glass with 30 cm long crevice after we try hard opening the curtain for seeing outside.i am lucky for a safe overnight sleeping without strong wind blow the glass down.We change the room after we mention this to staff and it is easy to open curtain in the new room so that is why i thought they knew the broken class already. The staffs are quite passive and cant solve the problem to connect the internet .The hotel is the only place i cant use internet during my 8 days trip in Sabah.i wont recommend to anyone to stay the hotel.

The room was a very good size....
The room was a very good size. The bathroom had minimal counter space and looked unfinished, but everything was clean. There were some bright 24 hour lights from the outside that came through the bathroom window, but if you just shut the bathroom door while sleeping they were no problem. Check-in/out was smooth & easy. They only accept cash payments. The hotel staff was pleasant and were kind enough to look after our luggage while we went on a 2 day hike. In a good location in China town, with restaurants next door & a pharmacy across the street. Definitely worth the money.
