I stayed at Hotel Shangri-la, Kota Kinabalu...
I stayed at Hotel Shangri-la, Kota Kinabalu on 16th, 18th & 19th April 2010. The rooms, lobby and restaurant are pleasant and appropriate for a 3-star hotel. I had rooms 508 and 502.
However, there were two incidents:
a) the wc flush jams, causing water to continue flowing after each use. You've to the knock it several times before it stops.
b) smoking in adjacent rooms - On 18th April, upon getting onto the 5th floor, I was greeted by cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke had also got into the aircon system. I complained to front desk twice, but nothing was done. It appears that room 512 and another had several guests throughout the night, with their doors kept ajar with the waste bins, letting out cigarette smoke.
Accepting that I had make a wrong decision in choosing this 3-star hotel, I bear with the discomfort. Luckily, the two other nights were fine. The front desk staff were polite... perhaps too polite to stop their guests smoking in their rooms.
