Royale Bintang
The major plus point for this hotel is in it location right at the fringe of Jalan Bukit Bintang and at the center of all activities in this area.
For computer craze people it is just 5 minutes walk to Low Yat Plaza, the IT and electronic shopping center.

Clean Rooms @Royale Bintang
Royale Bintang's location is great, within walking distance to major shopping centres like Sungei Wang, Times Square and the local night markets. There are also convenience stores right next to the hotel.
The rooms were clean and the breakfast spread was sumptuous with a wide array of food to choose from, including an eggs counter for omelette with cheese, roti prata kiosk, salad bar, juices & hot beverages. The star of the buffet has to be its local dishes like the fragrant Nasi Lemak (rice cooked in coconut milk) & beef rendang which was what I was looking forward to every morning when I was there.
The drawbacks of my stay there would be the half-hour waiting time during check-in. I arrived at the hotel on a weekday around 3.30 pm. The bathtub posed to be a safety hazard as it was slippery and my young kids fell in it a couple of times.
The reception counter seemed to be under staffed as I've called a few times close to midnight but to no avail. I had to make a trip to the counter to queue with the other guests checking in before I could be attended to. My query could have been prevented altogether if the staff had given me the right advice that I will receive a temporary charge in my credit card which will be reversed upon checking out. Instead, I was told that I will not be charged when he swiped my credit card upon checking in and I was alarmed to be notified by the bank that RM$3,500 was charged to my card.
Overall, having seen some pretty bad reviews of other 4-stars hotels in the same area, I'd think my stay at Royale Bintang was a pretty decent one.

February 2011 Royale Bintang Kuala Lumpur
Royale Bintang Kuala Lumpur is fantastically located for shopping in Kuala Lumpur. Hotel staff are efficient and very helpful and friendly. We were disappointed by the standard of the breakfasts and the dining room was in much need of a clean and renovation. Excellent gym facilities (for men - a lot of weight machines). Rooms very clean but noisey if you are on a busy floor. Would stay again if I needed such a central location but would not have the breakfasts. Free Wi-Fi was very handy. Great luggage storage system for when you have early check-outs and late flights.

Hotel advertised as four star. From experience it more like three star. Hotel staff are not very friendly and are unaccommodating to the smallest of requests. We stayed at the Park Royal before and found it to be the much better hotel at similar price.

Unfortunately my request for a smoke free floor was not able to be fulfilled. I have to open up the window slightly to vent the cigarette smell off. Air condition was not able to chill the room sufficiently despite closing the window fully.

Great location
The location of the hotel in KL is great. Very central and just a short walk to the Imbi monorail station. It's also just a short walk to several large shopping malls and a long street full of outdoor food stalls.
The room itself was large and clean, and was comfortable enough, but it felt a little run down. The hallways had certainly seen better days, and in places the wallpaper was peeling right off.
Overall, my stay was pleasant enough, but I felt the hotel was somewhat overpriced for what it is. I'll be trying somewhere else next time I'm in KL.

Disappointed
This was my 4th time staying at the Royale Bintang KL. I must say that the quality of service in general has been going down hill. I brought a friend with me during this stay and I must say that I was greatly disappointed by the hotel service this time. The receptionists were not friendly nor helpful. On top of that, I sensed one particular receptionist was even trying to lie to us about the reserved rates and about our room not being ready. We requested the room at 2pm and arrived at abt 3pm but were told to come back an hour later as our room was not ready. Fine with us, but when we returned more than an hour later, we were told our room was still not ready. She then decided to change our room and gave us one on the lower floor, although we have requested for a higher floor room initially. We accepted it as we didn't want to stir up any commotion. To our shock, when we enter the room, someone else's stuff was still in there - the room guest had not checked out (and she actually gave us the key to enter that room! What sort of security is that?) Finally when we went down again (with our luggages) to the receptionist, she changed room for us again, and in an unapologetic manner. I'm not sure if we did something wrong, or she was just simply rude to us. Also sometime later when we call the front desk from our room, nobody picked up the call, even after I tried calling 3 times. I am pretty sure I will not be recommending to any of my friends to stay here while in KL. The rates are not cheap either, and the service quality needs a lot of improvement. I suggest the management look into this seriously.
