Clean Rooms @Royale Bintang
Royale Bintang's location is great, within walking distance to major shopping centres like Sungei Wang, Times Square and the local night markets. There are also convenience stores right next to the hotel.
The rooms were clean and the breakfast spread was sumptuous with a wide array of food to choose from, including an eggs counter for omelette with cheese, roti prata kiosk, salad bar, juices & hot beverages. The star of the buffet has to be its local dishes like the fragrant Nasi Lemak (rice cooked in coconut milk) & beef rendang which was what I was looking forward to every morning when I was there.
The drawbacks of my stay there would be the half-hour waiting time during check-in. I arrived at the hotel on a weekday around 3.30 pm. The bathtub posed to be a safety hazard as it was slippery and my young kids fell in it a couple of times.
The reception counter seemed to be under staffed as I've called a few times close to midnight but to no avail. I had to make a trip to the counter to queue with the other guests checking in before I could be attended to. My query could have been prevented altogether if the staff had given me the right advice that I will receive a temporary charge in my credit card which will be reversed upon checking out. Instead, I was told that I will not be charged when he swiped my credit card upon checking in and I was alarmed to be notified by the bank that RM$3,500 was charged to my card.
Overall, having seen some pretty bad reviews of other 4-stars hotels in the same area, I'd think my stay at Royale Bintang was a pretty decent one.
