My friend and I were in town...
My friend and I were in town for a wedding and wanted a place close to the venue.
The small room, I suppose, was something we could both deal with. However, there were several things that were not available that I felt was not acceptable:
1) No towels - I had to ask for towels because it was not in the bathroom.
2) Soap - There was a soap dispenser in the bathroom, but it was barely working.
3) Hot water - Whoever got to shower first had a better chance of doing so with hot water. I took most of my showers cold. We figured it is a problem with the socket connection but none of us wanted to be standing in a puddle of water pressing against the plug.
4)Mosquitoes - For some reason, there were mosquitoes in our room.
5) Service personnel - There was a lady there to check us in but when she was not around, we were not sure who the people sitting behind the desk were because they were not properly dressed and looked nothing like someone working in the hotel.
6) TV - We had, I think, 2 working channels on our TV, and, depending on where I stood in the room, the reception was not very clear.
7) When we first checked in, nobody told us where our room was. My friend and I went up then down again because we could not find our room.
8)The walls are really thin.
I think the fortunate thing was that we did not plan to stay in the room much so it helped mitigate the situation. So for the budget traveller, this is fine. I definitely would not recommend it to families or couples looking for romantic getaway. This is a basic room at best.
It wouldn't be fair to present just the cons, so here are the pros:
1) Lots of food places around there so you can alwyas find something to eat.
2) Close to Bukit Bintang so you can walk anywhere in town.
3) Cheap - The rooms are really really very cheap as far as I am concerned, which is probably what tempered my expectations to begin with. With the money you save on accomodations, you can spend it any other way in KL.
