After staying in Melaka and Bahtu Ferringhi...
After staying in Melaka and Bahtu Ferringhi (Penang), this hotel was dismal. We thought it would be quaint and charming with a cabana with seaview. First of all the cabana was so run down and squeakey it was unreal. I was on the verge of tears and had to really compose myself. Had it not been such a hassle moving when you've already paid, we wouldn't have stayed.
The food served at the resort is just really, really bad, but breakfast is tolerable. If you walk about 10 minutes you get to a place where there are really good western restaurants, but it sort of defeats the purpose of travelling all the way from Europe to South East Asia if you're just gonna eat western food. There's no lights at the side of the road, so the prospect of stepping on snakes (Langkawi apparantly has loads, althoug we didn't encounter any) isn't too enticing.However, taxi is cheap.
If you want a sunbed by the poolarea or on the private beach, you better get out of bed realy early as all the Germans and the Swedish occupy the sunbeds by putting their towels on them before they go to breakfast. Some hugs the sunbeds for half a day withoug even being there.
If you still fancy staying at Mutiara Bureau Bay (although I cannot recommend and we'll never, ever stay there again) you should definately rent a car. The resort is too far away from anything really, and since the resort isn't the most attractive place to stay, you will want to get away and check out the rest of the island.

we enjoyed our stay at the Mutiara Burau Bay Hotel, the breakfast was excellent everything you could think of to choose from.The only problem we encountered in the cabana was there was no plug for the sink. The location was idillyic, and the food and was good.The staff very helpful, I would definately choose to stay at this Hotel again.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel very much. It has a lovely setting, an easy atmosphere and is great for relaxation and viewing the wild life.

We have just returned home from our yearly trip to Malaysia. This has been our third year staying at Mutiara Burau Bay and once again we had a fabulous time. The whole setting of the hotel is beautiful from the pool and garden area to the romantic cabanas set in the rain forest. The main thing that stands out to us about this hotel is the friendliness of the staff, each year we return here we feel like we are coming home. I would especially like to comment about the warm welcome we are given every year from all the staff and the band in the Seashell Bar. All these things combined make this my favourite location in Malaysia and we have been travelling there for the last five years.

Excellent location for honeymooners/newly weds.The resort and services were great, but we were not too satisfied with the room as we paid for standard deluxe, and I always stay in Mutiara KUL, I was expecting a similar quality room/bath in Mutiara , Langkawi, which unfortunately was not the case. Overall, I can say, it is an average place to stay.
