My mother and I stayed at the...
My mother and I stayed at the Pelangi for 2 nights in early May 2007. We had a pool-side room, as requested, and then at check-in requested a room on the first floor, which was given to us. (There are 2 room types available - ground floor or first floor) The room was much bigger than expected, and had its own private balcony (all of them apparently have this set up), which was great to have breakfast on. The bathroom was impressive - maybe not the most modern, but definitely lot's of room to store stuff, hang clothes to dry etc I found that the hotel anticipated guests' requests i.e. I needed an adaptor and phoned housekeeping to request one, however they told me there was already one in the room. That was very convenient. In addition, service at the pool-side bar, lobby lounge and around the hotel generally was efficient and always done with a smile. The only downside in our stay was that the buffet dinner we had on the last night may have contained some food that was sitting out there a little too long... . Staying at the Pelangi was a great way to end our holiday. The location is great - a couple of minutes walk outside the gates brings you to a street with restaurants, spas, convenience shops... I am looking forward to visiting again!

First time to Langkawi. Loved the location of the Pelangi relative to the rest of the island. Within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. But to fave a TON of fun, rent a scooter and try some of the local restaurants off the beaten path. I'm not sure the Pelangi is head and shoulders above any of the other hotels, but I would certainly be comfortable staying there again. Most of the time we ventured out and about the island (see comment about scooter) and ate out. I have no problem giving the Pelangi a very positive thumbs up!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The room was very good, with a huge kingsize bed and separate walk-in dressing area. The beach BBQ was excellent. We would highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms at Pelangi have just been renovated and are fantastic, we had a huge King size bed in a big upstairs villa overlooking the Lake & just near the Cascade Pool with swim up pool bar. We drove around to see the other hotels and this is by FAR the best in Langkawi. Reccommend: *Beach BBQ at night *Thai Restuarant in the resort *Lobster night @ Spice Market in the resort *Buffet Breakfast We will be back is 18-24 months!

Stayed at Pelangi Beach during March 2007 and enjoyed every minute. Excellent location on Pentai Cenang Beach (good powdery sand), near to the airport and shops, restaurants and bars. Would definitely stay here again.

Please note the following before considering booking:...
Please note the following before considering booking: -this is a 3 star hotel with some four star rooms if upgrading to Club Meritus but it needs a total renovation befoew it can be classed as a five star wooden chalets provide no sound insulation, -do not book a room on the ground floor if you are a light sleeper as very loud air con equipment is placed outside chalets -we found the cleanliness to be of a poor standard, with plenty of mould in bathrooms. On a positive note: -the rooms have nice large balconies -the resort has a good layout and the traditional wooden chalets add a much nicer feel compared with standard hotels -staff are very welcoming and friendly,in fact the only grumpy people we came across were some other hotel residents (probably staying in ground flor rooms!) -Langkawi is a beautiful island, a perfect getaway to chill out and relax, just be wary of the Pelangi, book a Club Meritus Room if you do decide to book

Having read mixed reviews of the Hotel...
Having read mixed reviews of the Hotel we were unsure of what to expect. However we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find such a lovely Hotel and one which we hope to return to again next year. We had a sea facing room with a beautiful view, where we would sit out on the veranda in the morning listening to the sounds of the birds singing in the trees. In fact the Hotel was so perfect, that we didn't leave the Resort once during our stay. We had intended to try out some local restaurants, but found the Hotel food so good, that most nights we opted for the Buffet dinner which only cost £10 per head. We have travelled to many destinations around the world, but would put this holiday as one of our best ever!

My husband & I stayed for 4 nights and absolutely loved staying at the Pelangi Beach Resort. We are in our 30's with no children and found it was big enough to accomodate both families and couples with the two swimming pools and beach. If you are elderly, you may wish to get a room closer to the lobby as there is a fair amount of walking involved around the resort. We only ate breakfast at the resort on the 1st morning which was disappointing and it cost RM55. The next breakfasts we ventured out on the main road and there were some beautiful cafes that we adored and breakfast was only RM20 for coffees and eggs/pancakes. We ate lunch by the poolside every day and we found it great value for money and healthy. For dinner, don't eat at the resort. If you want to indulge, make a booking at Bon Ton Resort - it's amazing food. For other dinners get a taxi to Sun Village, (RM5 fare) and there is a great seafood and malaysian restaurant there where you can get the most beautiful food for about RM40 for a glass of wine and a main, (seafood!). Back to the resort, we stayed in a poolside deluxe room and this was worth the extra money as the rooms were HUGE! We would definitely stay here again, the staff were also very lovely.
