I stayed here for three nights. It is extremely close to the airport, however I only departed by plane but arrived via the ferry from Penang.
Had I researched better I would have discovered that this hotel is not located in the busiest part of town. It's not in close proximity to many shops, restaurants or many attractions, however I cannot fault the hotel for that.
Should you want to stay somewhere that will offer you peace and quiet, this is it. As the hotel is not on the main beach area you won't be surrounded by other guests. However, the down side of this is that you will requite transportation to get anywhere, even to simply eat outside of the hotel. It is not possible to walk. For this reason we chose to eat dinner at the hotel, however, the prices were more than reasonable.
The pool area is quite small however the hotel faces out onto their own private beach, again not being the in main tourist strip you won't find any water activities on this beach.
The hotel could do with some rejuvenating, while extremely clean and tidy it is somewhat aged, and in our room some of the furniture was broken, such as cupboard doors off hinges and a broken table on our balcony.
The lobby gives an inviting view of the hotel, and the staff are all very friendly. I met the operations manager on the first day, and thereafter he remembered me each time I saw him and we always made conversation. That was nice and went that extra step in customer service.
I was happy with the breakfast service, it's not fancy like some hotels but offers a good enough range.
If I were to return to Langkawi I would probably choose to stay in the Patai Cenang area, just for convenience sake, however I don't hesitate to recommend the Lagoon if you're not looking to stay in Patai Cenang.
At check-in my requests for two single beds was not filled so we waited a further 45 minutes to be checked into a suitable room. Then on the second night around 9pm we heard a loud ringing of a siren, and I rushed to the door to see what was happening, as did other guests. None of us knew what was going on, so I called downstairs only to be told not to worry. The next night, this happened again, also around the same time. Both occasions nothing happened, but it was just a little worrying, the first time I grabbed my passport ready to be evacuated!
It was a little noisy at times, especially with garden maintenance work around the hotel. We could hear the garden equipment starting up very early in the morning (about 7am), and most rooms looked to have A/C units affixed right outside the windows/balcony. These units were also a little noisy.
