We had a nice stay at Lanai considering what we paid.
Lanai is a kind of DIY resort hotel. You have to carry your luggage even if your room is located on the 3rd floor. It may be a problem for seniors as there is no elevator in Lanai. Hotel staffs are friendly but it will be great if they can smile a bit more. Room is a bit old style and tired. Having said that, mattress is OK. Breakfast is basic.
Lanai is located at the south tip of the beach. Therefore, it is pretty quite. We like the quietness Lanai offered. The pool is reasonably OK. Lanai has direct access to the beach. Bar and restaurant on the beach operated by Lanai are reasonable that you don’t need to worry your bill after a few beers. Restaurant, bar, and spa on the same beach are within walking distance. (i.e. 20 minutes on foot.)
BTW, you can see buffalos lying on a vacant site next to the hotel to enjoy sunshine after morning bath when you are having your breakfast. It was quite interesting to us. Actually, you will find quite a number of buffalos and cows here and there near the beach. No worry, they are very friendly. However, be careful not to step on their droppings when you are not on the main street.
