My family visits Malacca at least once...
My family visits Malacca at least once a year, and we were quite excited to try out this brand new hotel. They told us they had only been open for a month when we checked in.
Being new, the hotel was very clean, the rooms were very nice and in excellent condition. We enjoyed the pool -- lovely design which feels like it is spilling over into the nearby sea. Kids enjoyed the large TV. Car park was convenient. Location was fairly good, except for having to cross a fast 5-lane road to get anywhere on foot.
The hotel, however, seems to be built for conventions and business travellers. There were some seminars going on and a couple of large groups checking in/out. The hotel staff were obviously at their maximum capacity. The restaurant was very business like, many tables, no atmosphere at all. The toilet was stuck shortly after we got in, but a call for service promptly fixed that.
I probably would not use this hotel again if I'm travelling with family. It's just too cold and business-like. However, if you get a good rate it's definitely worth considering.
