Great value stay.
The promotional offer made the stay at Berjaya Penang Hotel very good value.
What stood out the most was the extremely polite and helpful front desk staff who made the stay even more enjoyable. Their professionalism and helpfulness was fantastic.
The Junior Suite was comfortable, and spacious, with a nice view and good air-conditioning. I forgot to ask for a non-smoking room, but that wasn't a problem.
The bathroom was very functional, and the shower / bath could have been a bit larger, however it served its purpose well.
Two flat-screen televisions were nice luxuries to have, and the choice of programming was adequate.
Many shops were conveniently located, including starbucks, coffee bean, Häagen-Dazs, and many more eateries.

Food no good
The teochew porridge buffet dinner was misleading. Flyer stating the best in town but to our amazement it was miserable and low quality. The breakfast was also a disappointment so much so we do not want to try the dinner buffet.
Penang holiday
We (2 adults and a child) stayed at the hotel during the December school holidays.We arrived at the hotel at midnight as our train from Kuala Lumpur was derailed.Checking in only took 5 minutes.Our room was a junior suite which we got at a very good price through Asiarooms.The room was very spacious and clean.There was a good choice of food for breakfast.Taxis were easily available from out side the hotel.The shopping mall next to the hotel had a KFC, a bakery etc We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and will go back to Berjaya again if we are in Penang.Will definitely recommend it to my friends
Location is great near famous eating places at gurney and pulau tikus. I was diappointed on checking into hotel to find there were no non smoking rooms available. I had indicated my request when I booked. The room which was given is rather old but spacious.(the receptionist told me it was newly refurbished）otherwise it is value for money.

The room is very different from what was displayed on the photo gallery. Stuffs in the room is very old and not in good condition anymore.
There was a lack of information about Penang Island and things to see and do. The staff were more interested in sending us to Langkawi for sight seeing. There is so much history on Penang Island that they should concentrate on that area.
The staff were very freindly and accomodating for our needs.
There isn't very much in the order off western foods for breakfast but at $5 each it was good enough.
The room is quite comfortable. Need to provide one more box of tissue in the living room or sleeping area because I can only find one tissue box in the bathroom area.
The bathroom is quite small and cramp. Should provide a non-slip floor mat plus a mat towel.
Staff ok- not particularly helpful. We were charged a 300 ringgit deposit which was not stated anywhere when booking & has not yet been refunded to my card. Ok for one night but not really near the action.
Room pretty good but shower not the best - tap not working properly but again ok for one night.
Get yourself a taxi from the road, if you ask the hotel staff for a taxi they will call the hotel drivers for you which is 20 ringgit for a 10 ringgit trip into town in a regular taxi which the same car as the hotel's.
