Sheraton was a total disapointment. Bad locaction, in the middle of a slum. Shoud not be listed as a 5 star hotel. Shabby interior, wallpaper peeling off walls, smelly worn carpet in corridors.Broken furniture in rooms.
Breakfast spread of poor standard and everythying cold. Will not stay again and will not reccommend to any one either.
Not the usual Sheriton standard. Please downgrade the star rating to avoid further disappointment for new guests.

Let's start with the location : a bit unfortunate. Being a European citizen, we're used to walking around in a city. In certain countries in Asia, one of them Malaysia, it's not evident to walk, because footpaths are nonexistent or simply dangerous. This has nothing to do with the hotel, just with the location of the hotel versus citycenter. The hotel itself : when you think "Sheraton", do you also think "5 star" or not ? Well, this one's not; rather 4 star. For the price we paid I would call it justified. Insulation of the rooms against outside noises is bad even on the 15th floor ! Room was fine. At arrival our minibar didn't work, but it was replaced immediately by a new one. Bathroom fine, but no separate shower. Breakfast buffet was ok; if you don't mind, bread, danish and rolls seemed "at least" one day old.

We were very pleased with the service we received. All the staff were very good and cared about you.
The only thing was that you could not get any alcoholic drinks in the day as the bar did not open until 5.30 pm.

Hotel location is great. Breakfast is good too. However the corridor seem to have a smell. It would be fantastic if they able to get rid of the smell. Overall, value for money.

The Sheraton Penang hotel was quite good for the price that was paid. However they could deodorize their hallways a bit more. Breakfast was decent. Value for money. It was a bit far from the city centre, but its a nice stroll on a mild day.

Whilst the Sheraton Penang hotel is a great price, the location is out from the city centre a bit and is now looking tired and more so the rooms with wallpaper lifting from its edges.
Breakfast is included with standard choices, Pool is a great oasis. When waiting at reception on a Sunday, we were pounded by a heavy rock group practicing in the adjacent nightclub and this went on for over an hour. Would prefer to stay at another hotel next time as this is not up to Sheraton standards, so you wonder about their corporate department who is responsible to check their chain out.

The Sheraton is a good hotel. Located in the city. Excellent services and facilities. Stayed there for 2 nights (30th Apr - 2nd May 2005). 5 minutes drive to city centre - shopping areas and bus terminal. Supermarket & pharmacy just next door. Cheap and comfortable deluxe room even though the room is quite small. Breakfast was OK.
