G Hotel provided a marvellous stay. We just wanted to relax in Penang so did not do much sight seeing so the location was perfect for us. It is literally next door to Gurney Plaza and the Gurney Hawker markets. If you are going to Penang for the beaches then DO NOT stay here. It is actually not that close to the beach area. This is a good place to stay if you plan to stay in your hotel a lot. Rooms are fabulous and the gym and pool facilities are also very nice. Staff were very helpful and the buffet breakfast is amazing. No continental breakfasts here. We had full Malaysian and Western breakfasts. Overall a lovely stay for what we wanted.

Overall the experience staying at the G...
Overall the experience staying at the G hotel was very pleasant. The front desk reception counter was fairly slow in processing the check-in and when I requested them to check that there was twin beds, they took a rather long time to process the administrative tasks. The contemporary design of the G hotel was excellent. It was very tastefully done and I loved it !! The rooms also had the same touch and was really spacious. What could have been better was that the glass panel at the shower outlet could either have a shower curtain or a glass door to block out the cold wind when the shower is not running.

G Hotel located on Gurney Drive was...
G Hotel located on Gurney Drive was a good choice for an extended sightseeing holiday. The room and service were really satisfactory, breakfast was good, and together with the Mall next door and the many restaurants and the fish stall eateries on Gurney Drive all was provided for ... it was also easy to go down-town Georgetown or to the other side of the island by taxi. -- The local practice of negotiating all taxi rates is bothersome, though. Be prepared to always negotiate, and not all cab drivers are sticking to the regular rates, so asking locals in advance is advised.

We spent 3 nights at the G...
We spent 3 nights at the G Hotel. Finding it a great place to stay while in Penang. Our arrival was handled in an efficient, professional & friendly manner. Our room on a high floor had a great view and the room itself was massive. While we were there we noted the carpet outside the bathroom of our room damp. At first thinking it was from a water spill but later realising it was probably a plumbling problem. Had to have a room access card replaced and a 2nd failed to open door but still operated elevator. Lounge in room is not of the most comfortable design but rest of room is functional. Location next to Gurney Plaza shopping centre is a real bonus. Giving easy access to shopping, cafes & supermarket. Also taxi station in front of plaza was also useful. Great eating at the hawkers market nearby.

Nice hotel, good staff, especially the personel touch that was given to us from one of the waiters during breakfast time. 'Freshly brewed coffee, sir?' Good swimming pool and fitness space. The seaview is not that spectacular. There is however a nice shoppingmall next door and the hawkerstalls with their cheap food is only a few steps away. Nice fishrestaurant with living fish, crab etc. a few steps to the right. We didn't had dinner in the hotel, but if it has the same standard as breakfast, it must be good.

Nice large room, well decorated. Located next...
Nice large room, well decorated. Located next to a large shopping mall with good food court. Good sized swimming pool and terrace area. Located about 45mins walks from Georgetown centre so not central but plenty of cabs available (although traffic outside the hotel can be hectic at times!) Good hotel for the money.
