Good Place to Stay
Corpthorne Orchid Penang has a nice private beach, a good swimming pool, I stayed on a high floor with nice views.
About 45 min. from the Airport....
A pleasant uncomplicated stay
The location of this hotel between the busy city and the relaxed Batu Ferringhi beach is a plus point. The stay is pleasant enough, and the breakfast spread is good. The air-con is efficient but a little too cold for me even at the lowest setting. What the hotel really needs to improve is a lift lobby to the basement car park. It would make the stay an even more pleasant one.
The Front Office Manager was very professional and gave very good customer service.
I was given room 1719 which faced the sea. However, there was a problem with the shower - the water was either very hot or cold. Hotel need to fix this problem, otherwise the room is good. Breakfast is bad.

We stayed a wonderful 5 days in this hotel, and were impressed with the friendliness of staff, the location of the hotel, and the facilities.
The hotel has it's own private beach, which was great as it was empty of hawkers and safe for families with young children.
The staff were friendly and very helpful with all the questions we asked them, and were great in booking taxis etc.
There was a free shuttle bus to the city daily and a free bus to the night market which was fantastic.
The hotel also had public transport right on it's door step, and a wonderful little local food court across the road where food could set you back $2AUS for a good meal.
The hotel is family friendly, and we saw a lot of families enjoying their time there. It was great value for money, and we'll be back next time we go to penang

Humid....
Copthorne Orchid is cheap, the beach is lovely and quiet - and our room was clean and big enough for the three of us, but very very humid. There was no temperature on the aircon, only 'high', 'medium' or 'low' settings. 'Low' was very, very cold, so we turned it off completely.
All in all, I loved Penang, but I wouldn't go back to this hotel.

We are certainly very pleased with the short stay at the hotel. View of the sea is good and location is superb. We had time to explore the fruit farms and Batu Ferringi as well as the usual tourist spots such as Gurney Drive and Kek Lok Si from this central location.

Paying RM178 without breakfast is hardly to accept, newspaper is given the Sun, tis totally cannot accept, coz this paper can get anywhere with FOC.
Bathroom's water tap is loose till drop off, water flow out is not comfort enough to take bath. till i need to use a glass to bath my kid.
The request for double bed was not...
The request for double bed was not provided cos the hotel ran on full swing during the weekend. However, they provided us with 2 single beds and later joined them together to make 1 double bed. As i was with a child aged 4 the double bed is essential to us.
Hopefully, the next time they provide double bed as shown in the reservation booking eventhough they run on full house irrespective of public holiday.
