Great location near shopping areas
This is the best location in Penang city area but rooms need to be refurbished. Though is it clean but furniture was not well-maintained. It is just not the Traders Hotel standard.
TV was not working as it was too late did not inform Receptionist until we checked out.
Surprised that Hotel offers to pay taxi fare to compensate this.

The hotel is pretty old, although service and overall is value for money. Location is really good for great food nearby.
Great hotel in the heart of the town
This is a quality hotel right in the heart of the town.
Ideally situated for exploring the historical sights of Georgetown, few minutes walk from Penang road where you will be able to find so many places for food and drink, or shopping in the great shopping centre at the Komtar right next door.
Rooms are good service is friendly and willing to help.
And excellent value for money

Excellent stay at Traders Georgetown Penang
I stayed in a Traders Club Floor Room and could not fault any part of my time there.
The room was excellent with everything I needed, the breakfasts in the Club Lounge were very good with a wide choice and variety, the complimentary drinks and snacks through the day and evening drinks were an added bonus. The location of Traders is right next to the bus terminus and access to any area of Penang was very easy. Also taxi fares are reasonable and tours can be booked at the hotel. I found Traders to be one of the best hotels I have stayed at in my travels and would recommend the Club Rooms any time. I will be back.

Traders Hotel, Penang
The hotel is positioned adjacent to the Komtar Komplex, a vast area of department stores and shops, most of them quite old and dismal. The hotel is clean and bright and I would recommend it. It is around 15 minutes walk to the Georgetown historic area so it is handy but there are more central hotels. The service at the hotel was excellent but breakfast was not included in the Asia Rooms price. Breakfast is an extra 44 Ringitt. The buffet breakfast is fine. We would have liked to try breakfsat at another nearby location but none were open before 10 a.m. Not far away is Times Square, a new shopping centre and a brilliant food hall. Georgetown is full of rich history with many mansions, houses and museums to visit. I thoroughly recommend the restored mansion of Cheong Fat Tse and the fabulous Peranakan Mansion. Other attractions can be reached by the excllent bus system (the bus station is just around the block from Traders Hotel with clear indicators as to which bus to catch to the sights). However Penang can be very congested so allow plenty of time to get there and back to or from the botanical gardens, Penang Hill or Kek Lok Si Temple. Little India is fabulous.
Excellent Location with a decent price!
I've stayed at the Trader's Hotel from 26 - 28 Feb. Got a free upgrade to club floor with the promotion from Asiarooms.com.
The location is superb, next to Komtar bus interchange. The free CAT bus was nearby as well.
Near to shopping malls like Pranglin Mall and 1st Avenue. Would recommend a visit to the chowrasta market in the morning to experience the local way of life.

Clean, comfortable and convenient
Traders provides a very clean, comfortable and convenient property right on the edge of Georgetown. The staff is very welcoming and professional.
