When I first arrived I was disapponted that I had not booked us into a hotel at Batu Ferringhi as I felt that TB was a bit far away from the action. aFter visiting BF I was very relieved that we stayed at TB as the former is one big building site, shabby and rather seedy, with seemingly no beach front unless you stay at one of the totally overpriced hotels.
Tanjung Bungah beach resort is a bit dated but this is reflected in the price. On closer inspection the room & bathroom was fine, clean and with enough space for us (me and my 2 teenagers). The foyer was very nice - open plan from one side to the other, had a nice little beach with large rounded bounders at either end, a good sized pool, though in need of maintenance around the edges, similarly the loungers. The breakfast was good and serviced in a pleasant, modern glass restaurant overlooking the sea. The evening meal looked expensive (food in hotels along the coast seems extortionatly expensive - especially compaired with the fantastic food available in the local food stalls/markets nearby). Eat at the TB night market - around 1 mile further up the road on the left - going towards BF. Very good food. Hotel reception staff were always preoccupied with other booking in tasks but generally I coulnt complain about their service. Safety deposit box availabe. Would stay again although Georgetown is much more interesting. The coast is being totally ruined very quickly.
