Great value for money hotel. The foyer...
Great value for money hotel. The foyer area has been completely renovated and looks fantastic, so it would be a lovely place to hold a function. The room was fairly clean, but was spacious. My only major issue was that we paid for a room Sea View Suite with a kitchenette, however the room did not come with any cutlery or cooking facilities and we had to pay extra to hire a microwave, toaster, rice cooker and utensils for the duration of our stay. We had a few minor problems when we checked in as we had requested a room on a high floor because we were staying for a number of weeks. When we were given our room, it was only on the second floor and it took two days to have us moved. They initially said they would move us to the 5th floor, but that changed to the 4th floor and then we only ended up moving up to floor 3, but the view was still nice. Our room had a couple of small issues - the air conditioner leaked (actually, make that POURED water) due to its constant use, and the clothes line in the bathroom broke on its first use, but these problems were promptly fixed by maintenance staff. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the Shores Restaurant, downstairs, was very accommodating to my specific dietary needs and even prepared a special breakfast each morning as I was unable to eat the buffet breakfast. The free use of non-motorised watercraft and in-house movies/Astro pay-TV were also great bonuses. Overall, I found this hotel ideal for both our budget and requirements and would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Penang. It is also an ideal hotel for families as it caters for children with its Kiddies Club and pool area, and it is also accessible for seniors as it provides lift access to its 6-storeys and ramp access to the pool area. It’s obviously not a 5-Star hotel, but as a young couple, we wanted somewhere central and affordable from which to base our sight-seeing and this hotel was perfect. We were very impressed with its location - it is very handy to Georgetown and Gurney Plaza (which is one of the best shopping centres I've ever been to) and it is close enough to Batu Ferrengi (and its night markets) without being near all of the hustle and bustle of the main tourist area. I would certainly stay at Tanjung Bungah Beach Hotel again.

The hotel has a nice view as it were located just beside the beach but a pity cause we were allocated in at the lower floor as we could not appriciate the view. The bathroom shower head came out when we tried to adjust it but the maintenance guy fix it in a jiffy! The breakfast buffet is great but be warned there aren't many dishes and top up is slow.We have seafood buffet in the hotel restaurant on the second day from 6pm to 10pm as we were charmed by the chef who were barbequing the cray fish.We came down at 7.30pm to enjoy the buffet but all nine of us got to eat was just half of a crayfish and crab. When we enquired , the chef informed us there none left. What a pity by then its only at 8pm.To be honest the hotel stay is good but the restaurant is a letdown.

Clean hotel with a newly redeveloped entrance and cafe area. The room was very basic and worn. everyone was very helpful and happy. the breakfast was great. Overall a good budget hotel which could do with a bit of renovation of the rooms/halls etc.

I went to stay at Tanjung Bungah...
I went to stay at Tanjung Bungah from 12 to 16 Dec with my parents. My mum is disabled & I'm glad that a disabled-friendly room was allocated to us. However, I had to ensure this by calling the hotel directly the day before we flew to Penang. At my parents' room, despite informing the reception that the tap was faulty, the problem was not fixed. May I also suggest that in the toilet of a disabled-friendly room, there should preferably also be a vanity top for the toiletries to be placed properly. Besides, at the shower area, thee should also be a curtain, as after a bath, the whole bathroom floor was wet. In addition, it is also preferable that a waterproof cair ot stool be placed in the shower area for a disabled person to bath sitting down. These are some feedback which I hope the hotel will look into. On the whole, my parents & I enjoyed the trip as not only the staff at the hotel, but the people in Penang, are warm & compassionate.

We rented a self drive car for RM115 x 3 days & used TG Bungah as Base Camp for 2 nights to move around to visit to places like Batu Ferringhi Night Market, Spice Garden, Fruit Farm, Air Itam, Penang Bridge etc. Mr & Mrs Goh - Singapore.

After reading previous reviews our expectations weren't...
After reading previous reviews our expectations weren't very high but upon arrival we were pleasantly suprised. The reception area and the close proximity to the small but great beach give a great first impression. The room we stayed in on the 4th Floor had a great sea view and was perfectly acceptable, especially when you consider the price, but it was a little 'dog eared' and starting to show signs of wear and tear. The restaurant and the inclusive buffet breakfast were excellent. The choice on offer was vast and no matter what your preference for breakfast I'm sure you would find it. We ate out on the terrace which is virtually on the beach - a great start to the day. The waiting staff were particularly friendly and attentive. Overall we were impressed and I think you would be hard pressed to find such good value for money in the immediate area. We would definately use the hotel again.

We had booked through Asia Rooms which...
We had booked through Asia Rooms which was fine, but what we didn't realise until we got there was that the hillview room is right on the main road. When we got there and saw the room we asked if we could upgrade (about 11pm when our flight arrived). We were told by the lady on reception that there were no rooms available to upgrade to. We spent a completely sleepless night in the hillview room - the traffic noise is really really bad, it sounds like you are at a truck stop or a motorcycle speedway! The next morning we spoke to the manager and he amazingly "found" a room for us to upgrade to (this was only 7.30am so it would have been available 8 hour previously). We paid to upgrade to a seaview room and didn't regret it for a minute. The view is fantasic of the ocean and the pool and there is no traffic noise. The only noise was from a couple of hundred children that were staying there the same weekend as us and ran up and down the hallways from 6am each day. The pool is great but if you want food or a drink while you are near the pool you must go and search a staff member out. It's in a fantastic location on the sand. Would recommend a seaview room but definitely not a hillview room!
