Nice budget hotel
Nice location with convienent shop and restaurants within 1 min walk. Hotel staff are nice and helpful. Taxi co in hotel lobby. Only drawback is expensive wifi in hotel RM12 for 12 hours. Bed sheet can be whiter.
Tune Hotel, Downtown Penang
Travelling alone, i had the whole room & bed to myself. Even though the room was small, it was cosy. Having windows facing the street helped too...so i have no complaints about feeling claustrophobic! The only downside is the toilet emitted a strange smell...not overpowering but noticeable. No TV was dampener - i had to read the newspapers from page to page! Maybe Tune Hotels should have at least a TV at the lobby. A plus however is free internet at the lobby, even though its for 30 mins. its ok...im here for a holiday, not to check my work mails!
A short distance from the hotel (less than 5 mins) is 'some sort' of mall that has a few food outlets - Starbucks, Old Town Coffee, a Thai restaurant, etc. However right next to the hotel is a small Chinese restaurant...unfortunately i couldn't try the food.
The location of the hotel is not exactly a 'happening' place food-wise but Penang Road is round the corner..abt 10mins walk...this is where the food action action is! An array of munchies can be found at the Chowrasta Market, along the way you'll find people crowding around 2 stalls selling 'chendol' & 'ais batu kacang'...2 hot favourites to die for! You will also find a huge crowd in the coffee shop next to one of the stalls - thats were 2 Penang's famous dishes are sold - Penang Laksa & Char Kwe Tiau.
Bus service is reliable. The drivers are helpful & courteous...and its not that expensive. To get to Batu Feringghi fr Penang Road is just RM2.70 - cheap!
All in all, the hotel was satisfactory in terms of location, price, value & service.

I was actually shocked when i first arrived at the Tune Hotel. As i know, the air-conditioner works only when we give extra charges and we actually have to bring down the toiletries ourselves in order to retrieve our deposit. Also, i understand that all other utilities even the blow-dryer requires extra charges? There were no mineral water, coffee, cups or stuffs like that supplied in the hotel rooms either. Luck for us though, 7-11 is located right downstairs of the hotel. However, the rooms were quite clean and the working staffs are friendly. I do hope that there will be some improvements the next time i visit.

Great Budget Stay
It does what it says it does. No frills budget accommodation. The room was surprisingly large with two windows, very clean with a great bed and adequate bathroom. You have to pay extra for wifi, but get a half hour free on their PCs in reception. You also have to pay for towels and air con (but there is a very good ceiling fan). These places may lack character but provide a good service with none of the nasty surprises other budget hotels can have.

Fine for overnight stop
My room was a budget one without windows but the a/c was efficient and the room was comfortable. The outside rooms with windows are probably quite good and suitable for a longer stay.

When the first time I saw this hotel from Asiarooms.com, I looked into its rooms gallery and found them very enchanting.. At least for my one-night only stay. The price was also seemed to be reasonable. So I booked a double room for two, and on the day I arrived I found the expectation was precisely fulfilled. The room was clean, quite, also it is not too big in size. The bed was comfortable, hot water was well functioned, it has 7eleven right at ground level and there's a plaza that provides good restaurants and cafe right next to the hotel. The only cons I found: air conditioner takes time to be well-functioned and the distance from hotel to Komtar (the bus stop) is a bit far. Not as close as it is mentioned on the hotel site.

I hope to see you provide hot dringking water for me when i stay at your hotel next time. Pls arrange to install hot water dispenser at corridor outside rooms. ok?
Value for money.
Check-in time of 2pm is rather odd especially if you arrived before 12noon. Why can't the rooms be ready earlier if the checkout time is 10am? We were given our room at 1pm after much persistent request. At least there was some flexibility by the counter staff who were very friendly and informative. Very helpful to tell you where the nearby famous eatries and restuarants are. For Asian travellers like us, the room size is just sufficient but the toilet floor is always wet after your shower due to water seepage from the shower cubicle. 10 minutes walk to the hotel from the Komtar bus terminal if you get your direction right. Overall it is value for money if you just want a place to clean up & sleep after your day out. No TV in the room is OK but that stupid car alarm or burglar alarm nearby that went off in the evening can be quite irritating even though we were staying on the 8th floor.
