Mango Delight
Mango Tree Place in Penang is a series of renovated shophouses, tastefully done over by the husband and wife design team of Wei and Cedric. The buildings are old, and so have a bit of character to them; they are not intended to compete with 5 star brand new. But that is their delight. They are quirky, each room differently designed, featuring some of the older parts of the buildings, but with completely up-to-date furnishings and fittings. I have never seen a shower with so many options! They are also in Georgetown, very handy to the city, but yet in a quiet street which is a haven from the bustle of the city. The owners and their assistant Mark are incredibly helpful, and are not absentee owners, but part of the running fabric. Places to go, things to do, and especially food to eat, all will be given freely, catering for your wishes, but they also know how to leave you alone. All in all, a very pleasant stay and one I would have no hesitation in recommending.

Sorry we only had 1 night!
Our last night in Georgetown was spent at the Mango Tree Place where we were promtply and warmly welcomed by a staff member. She explained everything in the unit, which was nicely decorated, comfortable and secure. We loved the extra large shower with multiple heads! The owners provide literature on where to eat and were available for any questions that we had. Having lived in America, they were able to provide good insight and perspective into cultural and economic differences between the 2 countries. I mention this because we are interested in real estate on Penang and appreciated their honest, candid advice. The general area is quiet and you can easily walk to several restaurants and retail shops all within 15 minutes of your unit. We only stayed 1 night, but would definitely book a room here again. Other guests commented on the wonderful breakfasts served. Because our flight left early, we were not able to experience it.

Delightful, clean and tastefully decorated accommodation run by young, friendly hosts. SMS'd before arrival to ensure we knew how to find guesthouse and were readily available to assist. Provides range of information about Penang including suggested places to eat. Recommend Malay option for breakfast which is collected fresh from morning markets. Location on a quiet, charming street a little from town centre but is still easily accessible. Currently has only two rooms so book ahead as no doubt will become popular as reputation builds. Highly recommended!
