Beware boutique
Hotel was beautiful heritage building and thats the good bit. Room was ok, comfortable bed. Nasty plastic hangers. Safe didn't work, had to use key each time. Big bathroom with not properly functioning jacuzzi. No where to hang towels near bath/shower. Air con inefficient and noisy.
Staff tried to be helpful, but a bit clueless.
Food was in restaurant next door. Breakfast was truly vile rubbery scrambled egg, chicken sausage and lukewarm baked beans, two slices of barely toasted white bread. Coffee tasted stewed and had to ask for fresh milk.
We had booked for two nights, but checked out after one.

Penang Lodgings
The idea of staying at a smaller hotel, close to a B & B, appealed to us. The conversion of a former local residence to such a hotel is a good concept.
For an American traveler, I felt the size of the room was small, even compared to Singapore. The size of the bath, however, was very comforable and compared very favorably with Singapore.
I wish I had had a better idea of the room size - the room descriptions really dp not help much. I wish that we learned earlier that a choice of breakfasts was available. Too many "english" type breakfasts before we found out naseh lemak or Roti Cenai were available.
