Kl stopover
We arrived early after a long flight and were still able to access our room which was much appreciated.
The staff are friendly and the food and service excellent, the grounds and hotel are nestled beautifully on and around the ocean.
Wildlife and native vegetation gives you the feeling of being in a remote tropical forest.
A very relaxing and aesthetically pleasing experience.
The rooms on the water are amazing.
Gary :)

Better than expected
The efforts that Avillion made in keeping the place clean is evident (rooms, restaurant, gardens, beach, pool). This place is perfect for a quick getaway if u like sea, sand, wild life (peacocks,, plenty of small crabs at low tide) or if you just want to relax at the pool. Can do kayaking or pedal-boating & beach volleyball or head for the gym. The spa and the water chalets are sea-facing as they are built on seawater, so definitely pick the water chalets if you like sea views and enjoy the sounds of sea waves. Water chalets have huge bathroom fully equipped & has open shower (can see the sky) & small bathtub, furnishings are very basic so don't expect any luxuries. Very suitable for family with small children as there is a pet farm with lots of bunnies, birds, chickens and a pool with slide.
Downside:
1) Only 2 Restaurants serving the SAME menu - will get bored of the food choices.
2) Might get bitten by sand flies - repellent needed
3)

Water Chalet
My partner and i spent a most relaxing and entertaining 9 days at Port Avillion Resort. The 'adults only' pool was divine, the grounds immaculately maintained, staff were informed, approachable and could not do enough to ensure our stay was memorable. The resort has 3 different restaurants to eat at but one was closed for renovation. After 9 days we found the menu repetitive but could not fault the freshness and quality of the meals. We ate mainly local cuisine but there were other options and the pizzas were delicious.. Cocktails upstairs on the balcony lounge overlooking the family pool and coastline every night were a special experience. Staying so long gave us the advantage of getting to know staff by name and finding out about local culture and customs. It was Ramadan so a walk down the road to the next village gave us the opportunity to experience the food markets and local cuisine and again everyone was so friendly. Bus transport from KL to Port Dickson was easy to organise, punctual and comfortable. An excellent first visit to Malaysia.

disappointing stay
I checked in with my family for a short stay. The first impression of the place was nice and the rooms have a splendid view of the sea. When we went to the pool, we discovered that there were a lot of people wearing t-shirts and long track bottom swimming in it. This is in spite of the fact that there were a few signs asking the guests to have proper swim wear. I approached the staff who seemed to be oblivious of the situation and asked him to talk to the guests about not swimming without proper attire. He went and talked to the guest while gesturing in my direction. I can only gather that the hotel workers didn't do their job in preventing the guests from going into the pool and once they are in the pool, the hotel staff didn't ask them to get out of the pool. On top of this, the hotel worker was trying to tell the guest that I was the one who initiated the complaint and they had to do something about it. The worker came back later and told me that he allowed the guests to swim for another 10 minutes because they refused to get out of the pool. Me and my family had to restrict ourselves to the children's pool which was empty at that time. There were only two restaurants or rather one restaurant and one coffee house. The first thing we noticed straight away were the number of flies buzzing around our table. It obviously got worse when the food came. We had to ask for candles which helped a bit. Again the staff acted as if this was normal. When we went to the other restaurant, we discovered that the menu was the same. My point here is that Avillion advertised itself as a 5 star hotel. I do not know how they got the rating since they didn't satisfy the requirements for a 5 star establishment. For example the number of restaurants and the menu, not to mention the pesky flies. The staff are lazy as well. For example the room next door put out their empty room service tray and it was left there during our whole stay. Very disappointing indeed is all I have to say.

Great for families - worth a repeat visit
Worth paying a little more to stay in a water chalet. We had 6 adults and 1 child in 3 chalets. Technically can fit 3 adults and 1 small child in each water chalet. Lots of fun for kids, definitely worth going back again. Lots of mozzies though and room can be a bit cleaner. Breakfast was excellent! Pleased all the palates of all the adults and even the kids. The pet farm and 10am feeding was very engaging. It was also a nice and easy drive into Port Dickson. Another downside is that PD town is quite quiet after 6pm so not much to do in town.

Holiday Inn - Meleka
I must say it was a very very positive experience for me and my wife's short getaway. The receptionists are all polite and well trained and speaks very good English - unlike some other hotel chains in Malaysia.
The room was very spacious and clean. There was no bathtub in the bath room but it's no complaint - the toilet and bath area was huge and bright.
The room even had a iphone docking station for iphone users!
Breakfast has a very good spread and I would give it a 5/6. The serving staff were very polite and served me and wife very well.
Only downside is you will need to walk a distance to the nearby Mahkota and shopping area (separated by a busy road) and with children, this can be a little dangerous.
Overall, a very clean, bright and well-kept hotel and good and polite staff. Will return to stay again.

The environment was nice. Room condition is poorly maintained. No upkeep on the room appearance.
Staff is the worst we've encountered so far. We've encountered issue with our booking and basically they have the 'take it or leave it' attitude. The bellboy that was sent to help us with our bags when we changed chalets, walked with his hands behind his back while we had to carry our own bags.
Will be the first and last time for us.

The Avillion hotel staff were very polite,...
The Avillion hotel staff were very polite, courteous & helpful. The reception speed has increased tremendously in checking in & out since my last visit in Jan. We've always enjoyed our stay at Avillion. However, our visit this time was marred by one incident. Our room was next to the beach where they had a wedding reception & the drunked singing, shouting & door banging didn't stop until midnight. My 3+ year old daughter & wife had trouble sleeping that night. I would recommend that they put families with babies & small children to rooms from the 500s-800s & not the 900s which is next to the beach wedding area.
