No lifeguard at the pool. It was up to us to watch the kids when they were in the pool. Towels were smelly. the curtains had definitely seen better days.. The bedsheets were clean though.
Breakfast: The nasi lemak was cold. Everything was spicy except for toast.
We are locals so we can accept the standard but if overseas tourists, they will definitely find this hotel unsatisfactory.

upon arrival we were shown our room......disgusting is the only word to describe the condition of the room. Very dirty, stains on carpet, stains on walls, noisy, not cold ac,, dirty worn furniture, bed linen not even fit for army barracks. asked for another room, hardly any better, warm water not working. front desk staff poor communication skills. would not recommend this place to my enemies !!

The location is ideal having the public beach across the building location. The interior facility of the rooms is very basic..3 towels for 6 guests knowing 6 pax booking for a 3-bedroom apt; 2 glasses; no plates; no floor mat in bathroom to avoid slippery falls! For the price paid, definitely no service provided at all. Porterage borne by guests. For the service charge and government tax, I find not acceptable to pay 10% s/c for minimal provision of the standard hotel items for toiletry (soap and washing power in the smallest size).The air-conditioners in the 3 rooms need servicing; almost have its days....noisy and two AC not cold. The small fridge is a improvised cupboard. Room size acceptable as well as the lounge but sparsely furnished. Definitely this hotel (guesthouse) needs improvement from hardware to software. The swimming pool was overly chlorinated that the environment smelled like a hospital. Golden Straits great for very, very local clientels who arent exposed to basic standards and know what to expect. Two nights only for sleeping accommodation bearable but to use the hotel (?) as a weekend relaxation resort, there are many inconveniences difficult to mention here. We know what we are paying for the 'artist impression' with overly publicity (PR,marketing/promotion) camouflage.
Hope the hotel management will do something about its existing facilities that require refurbishing and renovation to maximise the ideal location as a locally managed guesthouse. The rental was not cheap at all!
