I thought our stay was lovely and...
I thought our stay was lovely and enjoyed the steam and sauna, they should be advertised a bit better as I nearly missed them - they are not obvious from the pool! The spa was nice but only cold water, usually they are warm. The room was lovely, spacious and comforable. The shops were good. We would definitely stay there again and would have liked a bit longer there.

Our room on the top floor was...
Our room on the top floor was very spacious and afforded lovely views of the rain forest and sunsets. The daily newspaper and complimentary water were gratefully received.A problem with the toilet was soon fixed. It was not a busy time so we got plenty of attention.The swimming pool was well maintained and most welcome after sightseeing trips.

The counter staff on check in were...
The counter staff on check in were unprofessional & the bathroom amenities were lacking. We had booked a triple room for 3 adults but on arriving in the room there was insufficient towels. On requesting a set of towels for the 3rd adult we were asked to PAY for the use of these towels! We stayed only one night & it was more than enough. The meals were adequate but unexciting.

Stayed only one night at the Sabah...
Stayed only one night at the Sabah Hotel but found it perfectly adequate for our needs. The rooms are a decent size, staff are helpful and pool area very good. Location is a little way out of the town centre. Would stay here again if in Sandakan.

Great hotel with all the facilities needed...
Great hotel with all the facilities needed close eco-trekking in Sabah. Pool was great to cool of in andfter a trip, and the kids liked the water slides. Staff are pleasant and attentive. Try to get the Deluxe rooms if you can, for a bit more, since these worked well for us and were really very good, clean and functional.

There was nothing really wrong with the Sabah Hotel as a city hotel. It is a perfectly good 4 star hotel. Our only problem was with the bed and pillows. The bed was too hard for me and the pillows were too soft. As we only stayed there two nights we could put up with that. Other wise, food was good, service and location no problems. I do not have a problem recommending it. It make a great stop over hotel but probably would not stay for more than 3 or 4 days.

STAYED HERE IN MARCH 07. BOOKED THROUGH ASIA ROOMS. NO TROUBLE. PAID $91 (AUS) PER NIGHT. GREAT VALUE. A SHORT WALK TO TOWN (10 MINS).NOT MUCH IN SANDAKAN TOWN. WE CAUGHT CABS TO THE TEA HOUSE (WHICH IS NEARBY), THE WAR MEMORIAL & THE ORANGATANG REHAB RESERVE. CHEAPER THAN TOURS. THE HOTEL HAS A NICE POOL FOR A SWIM AFTER A DAYS TOURING. WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL

Clean, good location, helpful stuff. The hotel allowed us to store our luggage whilst we went on an overnight trip which was very useful. Nice to have a big swimming pool and a place to sunbathe. Breakfast was good.

The Sabah offered virtually all one wanted...
The Sabah offered virtually all one wanted from a good hotel as I have indicated in my response.The table tennis table and equipment need replacing and some of the decor could be updated. However I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sabah and would recommend it if asked. Doug Gosling

Nice hotel, good sized swimming pool & outside jacuzzi. Water slides were closed off though. Nice rooms, very clean, various English tv channels. Restaurants not that great though - the Chinese restaurant did not offer a menu until you had sat down in the restaurant, so we felt pressured to eat there - but we left - because the "Vegetarian Menu" contained "Vegetarian Chicken", "Vegetarian Beef" and "Vegetarian Spare Ribs"! (Honestly!!). So we went to the poolside restaurant where there was a buffet on offer, but we chose a la carte, and it was very average food.
