Swiss Inn Sandakan
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful; rooms are clean and of good size for a short stay of 3 to 4 nights. It's worth paying the extra for the sea view room. Breakfast setting overlooing the sea is great; highly recommended for a short relaxing stay or jump off point for exporing the region.
The Swiss Inn is in a good location- close to the town centre, markets and plenty of local restaurants.
Good place to explore Sabah sites and local guides are readily available.
Room was clean and comfortable and we had a great sea view form the room we selected.
Would recommend you go for breakfast early - we went just after 8am one day and most of the buffet food had been eaten by a large group who were off on an early trip!

The room wasn't ready when we checked in. We had to wait extra 30 minutes. Nothing offered until we asked for a complimentary drinks due tour room delayed. Otherwise all were good.
The room was booked on Room only basis, no food was ate at the hotel. Location was fine, as purpose of the visit was to visit the Orangutang's.
If I were to visit Sandakan again the I would possibly use this hotel again.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The location is great. Great value for money.
the swiss-inn is a great little hotel on the waterfront in Sandankan. we had a sea facing room which overlooked the bay, it can get a little noisy at night as the bars are located along the front also and a word of warning that there is a large mall being constructed next to the hotel. although this caused us little problem construction is going to create noise at some point. we struggled to find activities to last 5 days but great idea to stay as a base for turtle island, orangutan sanctuary, rainforest discovery centre, heritage trail.

We booked a "de-luxe" room but we could never imagine how our room on the first floor could be described as such. We found out that it was only de-luxe because it had a sea view. The room and bathroom were small and basic, one up from a formula 1 room. They could do with some refurbishment and the walls appeared to be very thin. Unfortunately there was a very bad damp smell in the 1st floor corridor and a similar lesser smell in the room. We did ask to change rooms but the hotel was full during our stay. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. This hotel is best used as a stopover between trips rather than anything longterm.

We had 2 rooms, 1 for us and 1 for our adult children. Our room overlooked the harbour which was great. The childrens room overlooked the laneway and was not as impressive. Food at breakfast could have better heated but had great atmosphere on the waterfront. Would stay there again.
