Wonderful 10th wedding anniversary
Wonderful hotel with incredibly welcoming staff at all levels.
A lot of very kind attentions and surprises like a flower bath, mandi bunga ceremony and a film with pictures of our stay offered to make this stay unforgettable. Gin, guest relation manager, and Kuma her assistant made a wonderful job to make our stay unique with a true sincerity, joy and spontaneity.
The malay food proposed by the fantastic chef Anne was excellent.
The room (anjung) was great as long as the beach and all the hotel accomodations, including the spa where we found much serenity and relaxation.
A ideal place to find peace, relaxation and romantic atmosphere.

The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The room was evry clean but disappointed by the bed. My standard is the plush comfy bed from Mariott and YTL being a more premium establishment than Mariott i would expect the bed to be similar if not better. The overall facilities is well maintained unlike other resort (Berjaya e.g.) and it give a sense that the management is on top of stuffs. The location of the hotel forces you to relax being that there's not much else to do ourside the hotel. The closest shopping mall is an hour away (thank goodness). Explore the local food, the Nasi Kukus is delicious.

Well We just left there on the...
Well We just left there on the 16July 2010. 5 day stay,The place has undergone massive upgrades it is 5 star+. The grounds are second to none, the pools are amazingly beautiful , the beach very private it has it all. The rooms are polished timber, beautifully decorated and have non stop service . you walk out and bang they are there to clean, switch on lights reset bedding set up the evening mood ect. Ps we stayed on a very very low cost package and were still treated like King and Queen. The staff service and friendliness are 11 out of 10 . Do your self a favor and get into town , it is old Malaysia and worth the trip

Lovely private beach. Great setting with lots of privacy. Quality of food is good. Plenty of parking. Scenic setting. Excellent for those who wants to get away and the romantics . The spa is also pretty good. On on weekends, they have this local food delights freshly prepared by the beach, compliments of the hotel, which was very pleasant way of vying away during tea time. However, frequent power outage is a real damper. I had that problem in the first night. There was no torchlight in the room, no emergency lighting, back up generator did not work - so we were stewing in the darkness and heat from 2-5 am. That was a real bummer.

Very friendly people, top class service. Prices for food and drink are quite reasonable, but the room rates are quite steep. Absolutely memorable is Anne, the chef. She makes up the menu for you, based on your own preferences. Only somewhat disappointing issue: I sent the spa 2 emails in advance, trying to book massage sessions. I never even received an answer...Shame, really. However, overall absolutely memorable, a big thumb up!

My family and I are very glad...
My family and I are very glad to have stayed here. This is our third visit and as you can tell, we love to come back. Nonetheless, we would be grateful if hotel could consider more privilleges for customers like us who come back. These could be in a form of free breakfast (or other meals), and special rates for rooms/ spa treatments for returning customers. We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly come back. Thank you for the unmistakably Malay hospitality.

Tanjong Jara Resort is beautiful and secluded...
Tanjong Jara Resort is beautiful and secluded - great for anyone who wants to get out of and away from city life! The natural setting of the resort, the architecture, the service and the wonderful hospitality is truly "Unmistakably Malay". If you want a do-nothing holiday except sunbathe, eat, sleep, swim and spend quality time with a partner, this is the place to be. When you're there, be prepared to spend most, if not all, your time at the resort if you do not have a car as there is nothing outside the resort, except maybe walk to the main road for a Chinese meal (the one and only Chinese restaurant for miles and miles!) or walk down the Tanjong Jara beach for a little nature discovery. The nearest town is Marang which is a good 1-1.5 hour drive away. Good thing the resort provides plenty of activities for the restless! Other than the beautiful, wide and clean beach, the 2 swimming pools, tennis courts (attire and equipment provided) and indoor gym, the resort throws a 'Kampung Lifestyle Actvities' event every Saturday for a few hours where locals come to the resort to showcase local food, games, music and sports. It's great fun! There are other activities that the resort is able to plan for you with advance booking. One of the biggest "can-improve-on" aspects of the resort that my partner and I agreed on was the food. It's expensive at the resort (RM400+ for each of our 2 dinners inclusive of a bottle of wine), but at the same time there's nothing else out there that you can walk to (except for the said Chinese restaurant on the main road). Other than that, Tanjong Jara Resort is definitely one that I will visit again in the future!

The Tanjung Jara Resort is one of...
The Tanjung Jara Resort is one of those serene, tropical retreats which is totally isolated from any direct contact with the local community. Yes, you could take a taxi or the resort Volvo to the nearby town on Dungun, but you feel it's probably not worth the effort. If you want local colour or culture this is probably not the place to be, but if you're aiming for a tropical, European style, hedonistic chill-out experience then this is probably as good as it gets on the east coast of Malaysia. A pristine white sanded, coconut-palm fringed beach only inches away from the traditional Malay style wooden, two storey accommodation units sets the scene for this idyllic up-market getaway. The rooms with huge bathrooms with pampering tubs, comfy beds, in-room wi-fi broadband and air conditioning allows you to leave the 21st century behind and just wallow in nature. The resort is a tropical garden with much of the original jungle very much in evidence. Watch out for the cheeky macaque monkeys whose afternoon pilfering raids could quite easily decimate any fruitbowl left unguarded on the veranda. The beautiful sound of the tropical dawn chorus gently rousing me in the early morning is a memory that will always be with me. With two contrasting pools, three restaurants, gardens and beach this resort tries hard to offer the serene experience many of us hanker for. There is no brashness and little evidence of commerce - just a lingering feeling that here you can enjoy and be contented with nature's lavish tropical diversity in a setting of pure bliss.

We had a very pleasant stay at...
We had a very pleasant stay at Tanjong Jara despite our first evening and second day being a total washout(first rain for three weeks!). Food, service,rooms excellent. Background music in Malay restaurant(Di Atas Sungei) was a bit monotonous and jarred a little, especially at breakfast! Philipino band in the Nayalan great!
