I admit I am difficult to please...
I admit I am difficult to please and tend towards critisism - so that's where I'll start. Only two things that disapointed me about this hotel - firstly, the rooms felt in need of refurbishment. They weren't shabby but a little tired. I believe it was voted as one of (if not the) best hotel in NZ about ten years ago. Probably was, but feels like they have spent little on it since then. This may be because they host a lot of conferences (the drunk businessmen kept us awake a couple of nights giggling as they went between rooms). The other annoying thing I found was that the cleaners, for some reason, didn't tuck in the bedsheets properly when they made the beds (told you I was fussy). That said the staff were really great - friendly but professional, the room was clean and reasonably spacious, they run a shuttle service to the City centre five minutes away with all the food you could want in the evenings (and that way you don't get lost in the one way system!) and it was really quite cheap at the end of the day - so you certainly can't fault the value. It was well positioned for exploring both Chrischurch and the surrounding area by car and it was really family friendly - in short tuck in the bed sheets and even I'd have struggled to find something to critisise. Will go back - if they'll have me!
