The room was simple but really clean, and bright. Good internet connection in the room. The location is very good. You only have to walk about 10 minutes to reach the city centre and maybe 15-20 minutes to a nice park. At night, it was very quiet. During our stay (24-25 Dec 09), there wasn't much traffic on Bealey road at night. If you decide to have breakfast in your room, that can be arranged. The breakfast is quite comprehensive: cereals, juice, bread, butter, jam, fruit salad, yoghurt and milk. Tea and coffee are already in your room.
The manager (owner?) was very helpful. You just need to give him a call when you land in Christchurch airport and he comes to pick you up. He was very nice and told us about all the nice things to see in the South Island as he used to be a tour guide. He also knows his way around as he used to be a taxi driver too.
