It has been owned and run by the Utne family since 1864 when it was a small guesthouse. The famous composer Edvard Grieg found inspiration for some of his most well known pieces
while relaxing there and his humble cabin still remains in the garden of the Ullensvang hotel Lofthus overlooking the fjord.
The lobby is large, bright and breezy combining modern architecture and antique furniture. This large white building is centred around a historical centre section, but has been extended and modified countless times over the years.
