Wonderful location, with an great shoreline, lagoon, and heavenly view. Also very kid-friendly, with an outdoor playground and an air-conditioned playroom with toys. The room is nice, not great. The staff is exceptional, very friendly and helpful. The on-site restaurant is good, especially the buffets. A good value too, compared with neighboring resorts on Mactan island.

We had a very good stay in...
We had a very good stay in Maribago hotel. First of all we would like to mention the warm hearted and over all very friendly staff. For all the staff it was a great pleasure to serve us. Very helpful with all the little things we asked for. Great breakfast! Very good value in all restaurants and very reasonable prices. Swimmingpools were in good condition. Wonderful tropical garden all around the fish basins and pools. The sandy beach with sunhats and sunbeds (free of chrge)is ok but the water in the lagoon is not to good for swimming. We`ll come back again!

Even my stay was short, barely 3 days, I will say, that, the place, was wonderful...the services as well as the pèople, was absolutely excellent. The only, "problem", I will say was the beach. I will say it was a little bit too dangerous speceally for little kids, too many JellyFish, and other wild life that could just ruin you vacation. It would be good, to clean it up once on a while...

Look at The Blue Water Resort, 1/4...
Look at The Blue Water Resort, 1/4 your expectations and you might just survive 5 days in Maribago. Whatever you imagine, Maribago Bluewater is not it. It is no stretch of the imagination premium or even 4-star. Landscaping cry for attention. Grass gasp for water. There is no ambience and certainly no, organised activities. What on earth are you going to do for 5 days? Wait for the lagoon to fill-up and take a picture. When the tide is out, you are left with a bed of weeds and urchins (and flocks of bugging peddlers). If you are at all sucked into the resort, go for garden wing. It feels safer, less tired and strangely, better than the beach facing ones. If you have a stroller, go for garden wing. You can't push your stroller without getting stuck in the sand. Air con filters smells if it is long due for a clean. Rooms do not have kettles or, safe although you do get a wide selection of satellite TV. Dining? Menu is very limited. The evening salad buffet is almost apologetic for its dismal selection. Plus is, they do have strolling musicians at the coffee house from 6-9. With little else to look forward to, that must be the highlight. If you want to go some island hopping Boyla Boat Charter is just next door! If you need transport, elbow yourself away from touts outside the restaurant and hail a metered taxi. Make sure, he agrees on meter before hopping on. Flag down rate is 30 pesos and 2.5 pesos thereafter.

Look at the website, 1/4 your expectation...
Look at the website, 1/4 your expectation and you might just survive five days in Maribago Bluewater. The last time it won an award was in 1993 and for a reason, that is the last time it was good. Before I trawled the net for reviews. I can only assume the resort posted some of their OWN rave reviews. Whatever you imagine, Bluewater is not it. It is by no stretch of the imagination premium or, even quality class. For starters, landscaping cry for attention and grass gasp to be watered. There is no ambience and certainly no, organised activities. Except for guests trying to entertain themselves and the towel man chatting with the occasional passing housekeeping staff, it was dead. What on earth are you going to do for five days? Wait for the lagoon to fill-up and take a picture. Thereafter ( and for most evenings) water is sucked out and you are left with a bed of weeds and urchins (and flocks of bugging beach peddlers). Or perhaps, jump into the cloudy salt-filtered pools. If you plan to chill out in your room, have an alternative plan unless, thereis a programme on Satellite TV that you just can't miss! If you want to do some Island Hopping, Boyla charter is just next door. Boatmen are licensed and boats are well-maintained (That establishment is not part of the hotel, I should have guessed). Menu is limited. The evening salad buffet is almost apolotegicfor its sorry selection (or the lack of it). Plus is, they have strollers playing from 6-9. For most, that would be the day's highlight. Have a tip at hand. Only go to the seafood restaurant if you don't mind shellfish that is charged by weight.

I had a very nice time in...
I had a very nice time in the MARIBAGO Blue Water. Even  if this resort become to be old, all the places are very clean (toilets, bedromm, patio, bars, restaurants, etc). And the staff is very very friendly, both men and women, waiters and others. The only problem could be the prices : too high compare to other resorts more luxiourous.

We had a wonderful time at Maribago...
We had a wonderful time at Maribago Bluewater Resort. We stayed in the Garden wing room which overlooked the swimming pool. The room was clean and toilet adequate, though it is starting to show signs of age. The beach was not fantastic though as compared to Shangri-La's private beach. The water was murky with too many motor boats berthed. We had been to resorts in other countries and felt that the room rates are on the high side here. We would have better off going to nearer destinations like Langkawi and Bintan, where the waters are as clear. Shopping was great!  2 giant shopping malls (Ayala and SM City) in Cebu City with lots to see and buy.
