All the basics for a bargain price
I'd recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a basic hotel that covers all your essentials. I booked a room with two single beds, and found both were comfortable. The bathroom had lots of good hot water in the shower (relatively rare in the Philippines), cable TV was good, and the room itself was clean and neat. No traffic noise, and only occasionally heard my neighbours.
The staff were all universally excellent, went out of their way to help, and made my stay that much more pleasurable. The restaurant was good, (try the chicken cordon blue, avoid the salisbury steak), internet access was available (didn't try wi-fi though)
Location-wise, the Diplomat is a 5-10 minute walk to shops, bars and restaurants (turn left as you walk out the front). The nightlife is there if that's your sort of thing, but easily avoided if it's not.
I liked it there so much I extended from 3 to 6 nights. There's a lot of hotels with less to offer at much higher prices. The Diplomat is a bargain!
