My wife and I checked into Cleverlearn...
My wife and I checked into Cleverlearn Residence on 9-July 2010 and stayed there for 2 nights.
The overall look of the Residence is like its name, and not much of a 3-star hotel. The photos in the Asiarooms website though
real, but it was hard to see the overall look of the hotel.
The Reception was spartan and more like a kitchen serving counter, not your typical hotel reception. However, the staff was frendly and helpful.
I didn't expect the staff to ask for my credit card for flanking, as I thought I had paid for the two nights stay when booking through Asiarooms.
When I checked out, the credit card payment was not available, due to no line connection. In the end, I have to pay by cash. I realised when I was
in the cab, that the staff did not give me a receipt.
When I went into the room, it was alright, clean bed sheet and clean toilet and working aircon, which I considered important as minimum standard.
The room rate came with breakfast and has to be taken from 6:30 to 8:00am. We went down for the breakfast the first morning and decided it was not
worth the early wake up.
Our first night was disruptive due to the noise from downstairs till about 11:00pm. Lucky for us, we were late night people. As the Residence hosts
an international English school and foreign students who lived in during their course, there were more young people and they are rowdy by nature.
For those who prefer quiet and peaceful place, this is definitely not their choice.
From our room, we could look out to the sea, but right beside the Residence, is slum quarters and you could smell the filth in the water. I would say
nothing on the scenery.
After our experience, I would not recommend anyone to stay in this Residence.
