The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The foyer looks incredibly fancy but things go rapidly downhill once you step through the door leading to the rooms. Our room was pretty bad. It was freshly painted but very dark, the AC was noisy, and it seemed oppressive. Although it was fairly clean (the bathmat hadn't been replaced and there were roaches in the bathroom -probably hard to avoid in a city like Manila), we did not receive room service (we stayed for 2 nights and the room wasn't cleaned or beds made after the first night). Since we made the beds ourselves, I happened to lift the mattress and there were dead bugs under it. The phone didn't work but was fixed promptly by the staff. One of the lights didn't work but the staff was helpful. At first they got a light bulb, then a new lamp, and finally the electrician. After that, it worked.
The location is soso - a bit further down the road towards Quirino Ave., it gets kind of bad. I wouldn't stay at New Solanie again.
