The Philippine Plaza Hotel in Manila was a very nice place to stay. Formerly the Westin Philippine Plaza hotel.
The room that we selected was the "Superior Room" It was very large (about 20 feet by 15 feet) plus a small seating area near the doorway and a large bathroom.
We were given a room on the 7th floor facing North with a view of the bay and the Manila skyline. We missed the sunset, but I think it would have been a nice room to sit on the patio and watch the sunset.
The room included cable TV, had a stocked refrigerator, with items for an extra charge.
The hotel had a pool, that we did not get to use. It also had a restaurant in the hotel. The breakfast was included, but I believe the room was an extra $16 for the breakfast. The "free" breakfast was great. It was a huge buffet with almost anything you could imagine, from fruit, pancakes, ham, sausage, international foods. It was definately worth the extra price. Not to mention the beautiful waitresses helping seat people, dressed very tastefully creating a rich feeling environment.
The hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport in a taxi. Their is also two large malls within 15 minutes of the hotel. Taxis will drive thru the hotel unloading area occasionally, but may take a little time to get one during the very busy season.
We were there during Holy Week in the Philippines. The hotel was mostly full during that time.
FYI: Leave for the airport about three hours prior to your flight time to make your way thru the airport line, security and customs. Also, don't forget the 550 pesos charge in customs after changing your money to your local currency.
I would highly recommend this hotel for a higher class hotel at a reasonable price. The location is great, just a couple of blocks from the bay/ocean.
