During our holiday in Metro Manila we chose to stay in Manila hotel for one day, because the price through Asiarooms was affordable and because the hotel was of historical value and importance. The age of the hotel was visible, to some extend, in the room, but in a pleasant way. The lobby was really magnificent and the main reason to come to the hotel. Sitting in the lobby hall was made enjoyable, because an orchestra was playing there entertaining music (it was weekend). The hotel is a little bit far from shopping centers, but this a not a reason not to come to the hotel.

My wife and kids stayed here for one night only in July. The hotel lobby looks stately. Our double room was spacious if slightly outdated. The included breakfast was sumptious, with great service. If it were not important to my Filipina wife to stay somewhere historic, I would have opted to stay somewhere more modern, for the price.

The Hotel is in a good loacation and very elegant. However, it is so far away to the center of modern shopping like Makati. It is nice because it is near the airport.

Given the hotel's age and when it was built, it is still a good place to stay. I do recommend upgrading the existing room furniture and decor to accomodate today's trendy designs. Overall, I would stay here again, but it would not be my first choice.

I love the way the Manila Hotel...
I love the way the Manila Hotel combines the old and the new. Our 5th floor room (with wonderful harbour views) was in the new part of the hotel but it was furnished in traditional style and was definitely not just-another-hotel room. It was also very good value (booked through AsiaRooms.com). We stayed in it after travelling in the mountains where all the accomodation is budget and it was wonderful to experience the luxurious comfort, and first class service, without paying an exhorbitant price. We recommend the fixed price menu in the grand dining-room and the breakfast (included in the room rate) was also excellent.

I was impressed with the elegant lobby as we walked in but was dismayed by the unwelcoming staff at reception. Check-in took so long. The room is dated but nice and authentic. Carpets in the hallway are lifting and worn. Excellent service at the restaurant and food was great! Thank you.

The hotel earns positive review and its reputation. The problem is the location, without any nearby convinience stor nor shopping center. Although Robinson is 15-20 minutes by cab depending on traffic jam. I had been a lot hotels in Manila, but the reception in Manila Hotel is rather lousy. You could stand there in line for several minutes since there is only a single reception counter where the staff are mostly busy talking to the telephone. The administration has lots to improve in this field og hotel management, with the hotel of that size. Otherwise, all other services functions well and excellent.

Dated but maintained reasonably well. Lobby nice. Closest to Old Manila. Walking distance to the Baywalk area. Called for a bellhop to bring my luggage down but never arrived. I thought I tipped well, but apparently not well enough....oh well.
