The service was very good but the condition of the hotel was very run-down and it was not in a location that I felt very safe in. The staff were good especially the porter's and reception staff.

The location is OK dont be turned off by the looks at first. This is a Great Hotel, the rooms are clean and the staff is great. Just make sure you always check your bill, to make sure there are no extra charges. I plan on staying at this Hotel every time I come to Manila.
Although my stay at the La Carona...
Although my stay at the La Carona was brief, it was satisfactory. The staff were very accomodating to my requests, and the rooms were clean, but somewhat smaller than I had imagined. The only negative comment I have towards my accomodation there was that the building possessed only one elevator, which was ancient and very slow. Most of the time we opted to take the stairs, which I normally wouldn't mind, however we were located on the 5th floor.

I found the welcome and quality of service at the La Corona hotel to be very high. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I arrived not feeling well and I was not pleasant to the reception staff on my first day, but they remained extremely professional throughout and I commend them for it!
The lift is slow but this adds to the charm of the hotel!
I was not happy to have a round bed, but there was no difficulty changing rooms to have a normal bed. The room seemed drab but it is comfortable and clean. There was plenty of clothes space in the wardrobe. Equally the bathroom was clean and modern, and free toiletries were provided. The room was checked/cleaned each morning to a high standard.
Although breakfast was provided, I do not have breakfast in the morning. I spoke to some other guests and they reported that it was very good, so I assume that the standards in the restaurant are very high as well.
I was very happy to stay at La Corona. It is not too expensive and it suits my needs perfectly. It is also conviently situated in Malate. I hope that I will be able to return to Manilla at a later date and especially use this hotel for the quality that it provides.
