Location on edge of Makati CBD, short...
Location on edge of Makati CBD, short distance from SM Makati Shopping Mall. Hotel cars expensive compared to normal taxi's for normal to/from runs - but if you want tourist type journeys hotel car drivers well informed usually good english. Hotel short walk from Makati Night clubs and girlie bars - if u not comfortable with this lifestyle probably not the area for you. Good Coffee Shops and Restaurants almost adjacent to Hotel on main road. Never felt threatened walking about in this area- mixture all economic levels. Hotel staff polite and helpful. Swimming Pool basic with open sided walls enables a breeze makes it ideal to escape summer heat. Hotel bar small likewise restaurant and lack atmosphere. As with all Manila - road can be noisy and congested most of day, noise doesn't penetrate hotel rooms. Check Bill carefully on currency conversions. Rooms ok, clean and serviced well - but a little tired. No longer part of Best Western - brands itself as Astor Hotel.

A good experience, but was taken by surpose when the hotel adjusted the exchange rate on me for higher than expected cost for the room. It was advertise as $70 but it costed more since the hotel used a higher exchange rate to charge me more. Food was great. Excellent front desk service Be aware there is a red light district two blocks away so not the best place to venture out for familes or children.

I stayed in this hotel wif my...
I stayed in this hotel wif my best frens. For 2 female travellers, the hotel is quite safe. If you take the airplane via the international airport, it is quite ok. However, we took a budget airline & the destination airport is @ Clark, Manila. From there, it takes about 1.5hours & 3500 peso for us to get to Best Western. Our overall stay was quite pleasant. The room itself is quite well furnished. Juz that the light in the toilet keep flickering. And the make-up service for room is damn early! Remember to put the "Do not disturb" sign if u r planning to sleep late. The breakfast buffet is quite limited and rather cold. On our 1st morning there, we reached the cafe @ 930am (Buffet is fr 6am to 10am) & there is nOthing much left to eat. The 2nd morning, we were there @ 830am.. Same as the day before, limited choices!! The location wise is quite ok. Not that sleazy~ But the hotel lounge quite desserted. Lastly, I do not reali enjoy the services provided. Main reason is because i felt that the hotel is in "cahoots" wif the taxi service provider. As this is my first trip there, I was quite unfamiliar wif the places to shop. Decided to call for a cab thru the hotel. The receptionist quoted us a damn high price & gave us a wrong estimate of the travelling time. Overall, i feel that the hotel people are not tat honest.

I had an excellent stay at the Best Western Astor in Makati. My only concern was that the air-conditoning in the breakfast area was a bit too high for the morning meal. Other than that, my stay was excellent and would definitely stay there again. Thanks.
