Hotel Description

We are offering half-day rate for backpackers checking-in at 6:00am or later but should check out strictly before 10pm of same day, subject to availability of beds. Please email or call us to reserve.

For confirmed arrivals past midnight, be sure that the bed you book is for the cycle 13:00 of the previous day to 12:00 of the current day.
For example., if your arrival is Monday 1:00am, reserve a bed for Sunday where check-in time starts at 13:00. If you get a slot for Monday, this implies your decision to wait til regular check-in time before you could actually occupy your bed.

Reservation via phone-call or text messaging (sms) is entertained, subject to availability of beds/rooms. This booking is only confirmed upon receipt of e-mail/sms advice from the hostel and to be presented upon arrival.

We have more beds on top of the laterooms.com listings. Pls call or email us ourmeltingpotbackpackers at gmail.com if you want to make a direct reservation or secure a confirmed slot.

Additionally, please note that foreigners are allowed to stay in the Philippines for 22 days without a visa. But an ONWARD TICKET out of the Philippines must be presented to IMMIGRATION office at the point of embarkation BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN CHECK IN. So book your outbound flight beforehand to avoid any inconvenience.

Our Melting Pot hostel, otherwise known as OMP, has become the preferred accommodation option of budget travelers and backpackers who are staying awhile or making a pit stop in the Philippine capital. OMP is found in the heart of Makati City. Note that Metro Manila consists of 17 cities, including the old city of Manila, but Makati City happens to be the financial and entertainment center.

OMP is located in one of the residential floors of the A.Venue Suites, which is actually a HOTEL. If you are looking for a sign of the hostel along Makati Avenue or even in the hotel lobby, you will find none. We therefore advise our guests to read carefully the instructions on how to reach our place by accessing the “DIRECTIONS LINK” of this website.

We would also like to offer this tip for incoming guests:

When you reach the entrance to the A.Venue Suites Bldg, there is NO NEED TO ASK the receptionist at the hotel front desk about Our Melting Pot. Inquiries are NOT ENTERTAINED at the ground floor reception which is managed by the hotel operators, not by OMP. You only need to remember that WE ARE AT THE 18th FLOOR. Upon arrival, present yourself to the security guard as FRIEND/S OF THE OWNERS OF UNIT 18-NO and then ask permission from the lobby guard to access the elevator. After calling our staff thru the Intercom facility, most security guards would willingly accompany you to the elevator hall.

Our pricing is aligned with our surroundings where everything seems upscale and vibrant. Still, we have been doing everything to make your stay worth your while and most importantly, worth what you pay for. OMP guests have free access to the common amenities found in the building, including the SWIMMING POOL, GYM, GAME ROOM with billiards table. Our place is also in the middle of the happening in Makati City, 20-minute walk to the Greenbelt Area, 15-minute stroll to the Ayala Triangle Al Fresco dining, 5-minute walk to the Midget Boxing arena in Bel-air, 10-minute leisure pace to the cozy Powerplant Mall.

Intramuros, the renowned Old Spanish Fortress and historical district which survived the horrors of World War II, is a 30-minute or P150-taxi-ride away. We are at most 45 minutes from/to the airport. If you are arriving past 10pm when traffic is light, travel time is even much shorter or faster.

Now, when island hopping is your objective, we encourage you to brace for a challenging experience as our 7,107 awesome but incomparable islands are mostly raw and not tourist-ready, with the exception perhaps of popular destinations such as Bohol, Boracay and Palawan, Cebu, Banaue, Davao and the like. But as far as possible, we -- young, well-travelled backpackers ourselves turned hostel operators, will help you chart your itinerary so that you derive the most from your alloted time and resources, drawing from our personal backpacking experiences here and abroad. Throughout your stay, our objective is to offer you a sincere, personal feel of hosteling in the old fashioned, intimate, endearing way of Filipinos. We shall serve you a modest breakfast, generous enough to get you going til lunchtime. :-)
